Also to add. You do not need a formal diagnosis to take part in the study but you should be over 18.

Thanks again.

Hello, and welcome to Wrong Planet.

I think it's completely acceptable to use forums like these to recruit suitable participants for your survey. As long as you are not pressuring people to participate, many members of WP will actually appreciate the opportunity to help you with your research. I think it would be wrong to use posts here for your research, and it is not necessary to do covert research when you have willing participants anyway. I suspect though, that you must already have a good understanding of the ethical issues surrounding this type of research.

The internet is a great way for aspies to communucate. We typically have difficulty understanding non-verbal communication like body language and tone of voice. Those things are not observable to anyone online, which puts us all on an even footing :) Also, some of our body language or tone of voice can be unusual, and might convey the wrong message to people accustomed to typical non-verbal communication.

Its broken at the end?

I found it was too student-centric. Not all autism spectrum people are students, and many leave school early. Others dont interface in a meaningful way, but still seem to blend in, much like autistic children playing near, but not truly with, other children.

Otherwise, it was a great survey.

I'm all for research on us Aspies, and am all for participating in it. I like to think people can learn from myself and others' experiences.

Panic attacks? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention panic attacks. Panic Disorder is something else I have been diagnosed with in my time. It wasn't that long ago either, but found that provided I'm removed or kept away from the situation that traumatised me enough to cause me panic attacks in the first place, then the panic attacks won't recur.

Apologies for the spelling - glad it made a few people smile. I'm dyslexic - some put that on the spectrum don't they? Where does it end?

Continued thanks to those who have filled the survey in. Mixed responses from you all. Thanks for the comments.

Its intimidating and wonderful at the same time to work with a group of constructive critics. :)

Thanks again,
Pippa
