Sometimes when the server is really busy and you post a message, the message gets sent to the server but no reply comes back. The icon on your browser just keeps pulsing/spinning/waving for a while and then stops. Most of the time if you open another browser window and go look in the forum you'll see that the post was accepted. It's just the "your message has been posted" page that didn't get back to you.
