Sounds cool, what kind of writing do you do?

I'm planning to write a book about a girl with Asperger's.

Will it be in a similar vein to 'Freaks, geeks and aspergers syndrome?'

What genre?

Sort of, only fiction and more of a story. As for the genre, probably realistic fiction.

Sounds good, have you started it yet?

Yeah, I've started it, but I haven't worked on it for a while.

Hi, welcome! What are some of your hobbies?

I'm an amateur geologist; I like to travel to sites around the UK to dig up fossils and collect rock samples :)

How about you?

I like to travel around the UK, too, but I don't know when the next time I'll get the chance, since I'm from the states ;) . My major interest for quite a while was Virginia Woolf, and, to a lesser degree, Dylan Thomas. My son, who is also on the spectrum is the one really interested in rocks. Where are some of the best places in the UK for rock hounding?

Oh sweet, there seems to be a lot of Americans on here, which state? You will probably think now is a good time to come to the UK what with all the business about Brexit and the pound tanking

As for rocks, the geology of the British isles is very diverse, ranging from mostly sedimentary in the south to igneous and metamorphic in the north, especially Scotland. What are you looking for in particular?

I'm from Washington state (Pacific Northwest, not D.C.). I would love to take my son up to Scotland for rocks. I've been all round England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, but never Scotland. He likes colorful, gem-like specimens. At the moment, sad to say, I could hardly afford the drive to the airport

Colourful and gem like? You might struggle in the UK, unless you get lucky and find some schist with garnet in from the Outer Hebrides. Other than that the only other thing I can think of is jet from whitby, it's black but it is a gemstone/ fossil. Quartzite looks pretty nice if you can get a sample, labradorite looks awesome too but it sadly isn't a native rock to the UK, I believe. Your best bet would probably to go to a crystal shop and just buy him quartz, amethyst, citrine, rose quartz, tigers eye etc
