Allow me to be a little more specific. It's not his autism whatsoever that needs remedying; it's the symptoms that stem from it.

There is a lot of discussion on this board about whether autism is intrinsic to a person. What are symptoms and what are who you are. It's a sticky wicket.

If going into counseling therapy, being evaluated for better medicines, learning how to manage his time, and being more proactive about picking up after himself is considered unnatural and stressful, then perhaps this isn't the place I thought it was to gain insight.

Well, CBT can be helpful to learn to mimic neurotypical interaction. As far as medications go, Risperidone or Seroquel work great for black and white thinking and improving Theory of Mind, for me anyway. I also suggest gabapentin which helps with coordination and fine motor control. Forget about time management and tidiness ... it's not going to happen.

Seems like you have a good feeling toward your husband; I would suggest you stick around, there's lots of other people here than me.

Also I seriously doubt that every single person with AS can never learn how to properly manage their time or clean up after themselves.

I mean, unless you literally knew every single person in the world with AS.

What are the specific behaviors that are causing the strain or problems in your relationship? I saw you mention cleaning up after himself. What are some other behaviors?
