I've only gotten to meet a few whippets, but they were sweet, sensitive dogs. I can see how a 'forward' cat could be dominant. BTW, the same thing often happens with Irish Wolfhounds, I hear, because they're such gentle, sensitive souls, though one of the 2 hugest breeds in terms of height.
