Not sure it's a place for making friends so much as somewhere for posting comments on group forums...?

It has the potential to create friendships I guess but the PM facility seems to be a forgotten after-thought.

There should be a social media ap for Asperger's people, based on the features of Tindr. To my knowledge there's nothing even remotely like that.

Still, typing on keyboards/phones and staring at screens is now the modern conduit of human connection, so might count as 'friendship' for some. Better than nothing, I guess.

For me, I'd rather meet people, after talking to them 1-1, after establishing a common interest. That used to be called friendship.

Meeting people after communicating online is the normal way to do things.

Yeah, that's what I said. Are you suggesting that actually happens here...?

No, and given the location of everyone here is all spread out, that's not likely to happen.

So your point was what exactly?

I was trying to explain the difference between meeting online and in real life.

That's why I fail to understand why you said here is not a good place for making friends.

Mountain Goat says Peta has friends here, and I believe him.

Well I’m probably too old for you and me to be friends but I just joined the site for the same reason you did so I hope it can be a good place for that. :)

Like someone said, there really ought to be a social media site for people with ASD. It’s so hard not to be lonely.

Personally, I don't think age matters because I'm an adult.

Ummm. Yes. I tend to do that a bit. Usually much older people. But a few years ago I lost most of them. They couldn't help it. They just died at the end of their life sort of thing.
Younger... Hmmm. Can be a bit of a handful. Though my mind thinks I am young, and when I am not masking so much I am a little childlike. Haha. I do silly little things like stroke walls as I walk along etc. In school the few friends I had seemed to be younger then I was apart from the odd one (Or two depending o what age I was as I tended to have one friend my age at a time. Somehow two or more close friends at a time didn't seem to work. One was enough at a time I think).

Most of my friends are my Mums friends who see me at the same time because I'm there. "Children should be seen and not heard". "But Mum... I'm 47 years old!" HAHAHAHA! Just kidding. Is my imagination. She used to say that though when I was younger.

I suppose I felt that way when I was your age too. Maybe it’s typical for an aspie! We tend to be not very good at the things that people in their twenties tend to judge each other on.

That’s just what happens. Some people stay close to their school friends forever; most don’t. The difference for autistic people is that we’re not good at making new friends to replace the ones we naturally lose.

It’s not easy, being like this - but you will be okay.
