I think Mountain Goat may have a new BFF. Welcome. You may have only been diagnosed 17 days, but you have been autistic for all 56 years. Just a thought

What does BFF mean?

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to being a member of the community.

My interests are wide and varied, but all special. I can certainly appreciate narrow-gauge tank engines (0-4-0)--there is something nice about saddle tanks. I leave my flirting directed toward my wife. My oldest and longest interest is photography. My latest interest is autism--I read something about an unexamined life...

Thank you.

I can see you looking at the 7mm narrow gauge kits on the Smallbrook Studio site. Hehe.

Trains are an old hobby. As I remember, I collected N, HO, and O gauge. I could be wrong on the O. That was an old clock work engine and cars I picked up in the UK. I think an old Hornby with switches and a turntable. It cost me 28p.

This thread is very educational! I'm learning more about both trains and Japanese! :D

Life is a never ending learning process. I find the Internet so useful. Just a few days ago I leaned what a "thalassophile" is! Hadn't heard the word before.

The kanji for "jiheisho" are quite interesting. Literally "shut-in-yourself sickness". Only my wife knows I have it, because the Japanese don't like to talk about that stuff.

Anyway, how did you find living in Japan? What age were you? Roughly, if you don't want to be precise.

Thank you all. I am finding the conversations on the Wrong Planet (TM) very educational as well.

I lived in Japan for for about 15 years. I went in my late 20s. It is a remarkable country. There is something very calming about the culture. I did a lot of mountain climbing and was fascinated by the history. It is really an easy place to travel in.

It sounds like I am not the only person to have experience in Japan.
