Cool, I like computing too, and the most interesting was working with embedded linux on telco equipment.

The amount of equipment running linux is quite astounding and it's always fun to see linux running on something new and unexpected. What kind of telco equipment did you work on? I've heard a lot of fascinating stories from the telco folks at linux kernel conferences.

Btw I see this cite has lots of Americans, so what do you guys use as the British Cheers?

I actually do sign off with cheers! Not sure why, just something I've done in email and similar situations for as long as I can remember.

I started my path in programming well into the age of personal computers given that I was born the year the original Macintosh was released  That said I've been using a computer since before I could talk so even I sometimes feel like a dinosaur when talking about computing before internet access was common place.

Anyways, I much prefer sailmaking and woodworking than computers nowadays.

Sailmaking and woodworking, are you working on building a boat?

Not at the moment. But I have previously. I studied boatbuilding for two years.
I work as a rigger, so it's part of my job, and it's my special interest. Also ropemaking and various rope-work.
