Everybody does it different. I, myself, choose the most literal route given my computer.

Hopefully others will chime in on this and help. For example, I run OSX, others may just use windows, so the methodology will be different.

I took mine from some website somewhere (I don't remember where exactly) and 'purpled' it up.

I like wolves. They're both fascinating and beautiful, and totally undeserving of the 'inherently evil' reputation they get.

It's me ! ! That should be quite obvious, really ....

Mine is V from "V for Vendetta". I guess I like the letter V, but I like the character more. I want to be him, running around in a mask, saving cute girls from thugs, creating revolutions, living underground with fantastic... stuff!

eh, too bad in RL I'm kinda boring, and can't get away with wearing a mask all the time.

It isn't me... but it is my animated namesake and self.

Mine is Strong Bad from Homestar Runner Dot Com. I have changed from the Sith Lord Darth Revan, to Samurai Jack, to me and my kids, to Bill & Ted, and now to Strong Bad. It depends on my mood.

I have never really thought about what my avatar represents...But I can think of a few things of why I chose it.

My avatar is a picture of a hornet.
When I was 7 years old, I was stung by one, luckely I am not allergic. It has left a scar, on my leg, just above my anckle. It's not too big, but is always a reminder of the day it happened when I look at it.
Ever since the day I was stung, Hornets seem to leave me alone. If one lands on me, it will walk across my arm, leg or where ever it lands for about 30 seconds, and they fly away again without stinging me. Pretty strange, I know.

I just chose that avatar because hornets are special to me. Some people think they are scary, but just look at my avatar...does it look scary? No, it just looks like a innocent creature of nature.

I'm the same way with spiders *a single tear rolls down UnrelentingHorror's face*

Keep going, I like what I've seen so far.

This is my original avatar, and I always loved it.
It is how I feel, but not how I look, not even when I was a young girl.
I was pretty ugly and had rosacia on my cheeks and mostly stared and walked around on my tip toes holding up an imaginary skirt or at least looked like I did. I think that I had magnesium deficiency as a child, and it made my muscles contract painfully.

anyway, my avatar is how I feel most of the time. I have learned to embrace my Asperger's Syndrome when I can.

mine's one of my door closers (first hydraulic with an arm kind) and the laptop i post on, what it means? they are 2 of my interests and also i thought it was a cute hardware/software combination as well as a cute and funny joke about symantec products (norton antivirus) so yea, i can clearly claim i have norton on my computer accept my norton dont screw up the registry or turn the computer into a doorstop. its a closer! lol

I just posted a picture of an Atom because im in to Nuclear/particle/Quantum physics and my knowledge extends up to A-level. I guess its kinda ironic in a way because im the only person i know who is obsesed with science to the level i am (espically physics). I have been studying science since i was 5 and particle physics since i was 8. I was thinking of posting a picture of my piano/Double bass but the photos are WAY too big (around 5,500 KB)

Now that I got an avatar(Thanks again, MADDuck ), i can talk about it!
It kind of reminds me of my creative self from the past. Always working on some piece of art or writing or drama- I always wore black in my high school through college years and didn't ever give a crap what people thought of me. I've changed somehow since then. I guess I see that now and I'm trying to get a peice of my creativity back.
