That's so cool. When my dad was on the USS Tortuga they were in Spain twice and once after working on some traing exersises/games with the Spanish army some of the Spanish soldiers came over to the ship to hang out and they traded uniform stuff so we have a Spanish army hat and shirt. My dad let me bring them to my Spanish class once in seventh grade to show the class. My dad has wonderful stories from Spain. My college planned a may term trip to Barcelona but I couldn't go. I wanted to it just wasn't reasible. I really like Spain alot so for my Middle Ages class I chose to do my paper on Al-Andalus, from the conquest to the reconquista focusing on cultural blend and unity. It was really interesting to research.
My parents were pretty equal in the household though some things they had their own control on more than the other.
Wow, I am impressed to see that "old" history of Spain interests somebody outside of the country. THANK YOU!! !! !! !! ! I love to hear that. Even though I've been in the US for a long time I still appreciate when people know about my country and appreciate it. Your daddy raised you well. Wink wink.
I understand about not being able to take the trip: Spain is soooo expensive now with the Euro kicking butt. When I visit my dollars don't amount to much anymore. It sucks.
