LOL! I'm terrible with that sort of stuff, too. I've lived here pretty much all my life(born in buffalo, moved to Lyndonville(Anyone who has heard of that town gets a million points from me) and now I live in the town I live in now) so I know my way around fairly well. As a general sense...if you were to come to my town, you'd take Ridge Road out about 45 min past Greece.
BTW, are you one of those aspies obsessed with trains? if you are, I know a store that's a paradise for anyone into trains, LOL!

hi! i'm new, too, and also in upstate(ish) NY. i attend college at Hamilton College, which is about ten minutes outside of Utica. i have no idea where that is in relation to anyone else, though.
