I am always very open, except for maybe when it comes to offering up information that could really come back to haunt me IRL.

There was a post mentioning a list of administrators. I was wondering if maybe I could get a link to their profiles so that I could maybe get to know them through PM or something.

I noticed the vast amount of information, btw. However, thank you for the welcome. :D

How safe would you say it is?

Let me explain what I mean. On my previous board, the admins were no where to be found, so people would post anything (sometimes even stealing other people identities, or posting graphic content that even included children). I found myself in a situation where people were talking about how they wanted me to be raped and how they wished I would die (one person even said that they wanted me to drive off a very high cliff). Others were attempting to squeeze my real name and address out of me.

And I'll just saw that there were other posts on this completely open and public forum that could be considered sexual harassment.

So is this one policed fairly well? How is it policed?

Bloody hell - there are some creepy people about.

edit: and thank you two for the welcome.
Anyway, you'll be pleased to hear that WP is fairly well policed. Whereabouts are you from, just out of interest? And welcome. :)

Well, there are always creepy people about, but I am glad to hear of it being well policed. That was really the only issue with the other board I was on.

And thank you. I will say that I live in Arizona.

You can post things for moderator attention here...

Moderator Attention thread

Here are links to some mods so you can PM them (sorry if I forgot some).

I'd suggest Gwenevyn as she's up on female issues.

Thank you. I will keep them in mind

I would like to say that I'm not a female, though.

Golly gosh. I really didn't think Strapples had confused anyone into believing his entirely false implications.

Anyhow, so I was wondering what kind of resources could be found here. Is this just infromational, or does the site help people get plugged into local cherities or groups where they could meet others?

I guess I could say that I see myself as becoming a bit of a go-between. I am very friendly (if quirky) in person and can see myself maybe doing something that helps to bridge the gap between others like myself and the rest of the world (so that they do NOT have to go through the same struggles, which normally were with misinterpretation and frustration).

But I was also wondering if I could learn a little about you (whatever you share is fine as long as it's family friendly  which was not always what I saw on the other boards).

Okay, so I'm attempting to start a thread with my very first post here.

Welcome to WrongPlanet!Image

If you are looking for charities or help organizations try "The Haven":

There are among the sticky threads listings of organizations that offer some help.

Sorry morning_after,

I knew you were male because I looked at your profile when you did your original post. Then later posts where you covered the things that happened at other boards made me mentally switch you to a female - completely accidental - sorry.

- oh and I forgot Lau - I knew that if I tried to list the mods, I'd miss someone.

So Lau.... is Strapples a moderator or not?

Morning-after, I'm so sorry about your previous experience. Why don't you come over to the ex-dino cafe, sit down with a pillow, and have a muffin and coffee?
Trolls abound everywhere, but here they are kicked off pretty soon.

Okay, so I'm knew to these boards. What's the ex-dino cafe?

And maybe I will check out the Haven. I don't know what goes on there, either, though.

The Haven is where you go to vent or cry and people will metaphorically hug you.
The cafe is under the Getting to know each other forum.

yes, this site will help you get plugged into groups in your area... not charities, most of those are for "curebies"

Okay, so what kind of groups? I am a bit of an activist at heart.

And where would I find information like that?
