Also notice that online test, on one hand said I was and on the other hand said I wasn't.

Also probably everybody NTs whatever are slightly autistic. Everybody probably fits in the autistic spetrum. It's probably a natural thing.

Why are males more autistic than females? I think males have evolved to be autistic because maybe it helps us to be hunters and better fighters, autism gives you more focus I think.

I'm an aspie and have always been able to read people too well - maybe we have a second sense!

I do not think everyone is slightly on the spectrum, because most NT do not understand me - seem to be on some other level...

I just feel there are 2 sets of people on this planet... and some of us just happen to share traits with some of the most exceptional people in history 8O

I think I'll stick with diagnose

Not sure if I have it not.

I'm happy with that diagnosis for the time being. All this stuff is a lot for me to take in.

Just remember on the spectrum or not does it really matter, because you are the same person and its always good to discover more about ourselves, a little at a time is always good..

Hi Welcome, I really should pop into the Getting to know each other board more often. :)

I thought I was an Aspie.....even have the autistic son to prove it.

However, when I finally went to be diagnosed at age 60, I was given a very definite diagnosis of NLD and told I did not have Asperger but did also have some strong signs of ADHD (minus the hyperactivity).

I had taken internet tests that said I probably had Asperger.

This stuff is far more complicated than you think.

I did a google of NLD, it sounds very like the same things I have read about Aspergers.

It really IS very similar. A large difference in verbal IQ and performance IQ is a key factor in identifying an NLDer.

Aspies seem to be better at math and have better working memories in my experience and reading. The NLDers seem to be more verbally and socially skilled and lack some of the more stereotypical and common typically Autie and Asperger characteristics like stimming, clumsiness and obsessive interests in unusual hobbies.

Of course, it's usually way more complicated and crossover characteristics are common and how much of it is co-morbidity is guesswork, I think.

I am NLD and also ADHD (minus the hyperactivity).

Why do you think you are NOT ADHD, Mr. Bogan?

I'm really good at maths, but have a poor memory, not very verbal because of my memory.

On ADHD

I'm not hyperactive either.
But yes I get distracted really easily, but also I have incredable focus and I am good at working out problems.

I do feel that I'm a bit dyslexic, bad speller and really unorganized.

I think everybody is different and putting people into boxes is a bad idea.

When you have ADD you may have difficulty focusing on a task and your coping mechanism is to block out everything else. That's quite common.

So your "incredible focus" fits ADD perfectly.

I don't think in terms of "putting people in boxes," but into general categories.

The best thing to do is to be diagnosed by a professional. Some conditions can be helped a lot with medications, but you can't go there without professional help.
