I find it neat to see so many autistic artists. It sends a message to those who believe the stereotype that autistics lack creative thinking. I believe most autistics are creative whether they realize it or not. It may not be perceived as creativity to the outside world, but only because people may not understand. For me I find a lot of my creativity comes from being able to visualize and animate scenes akin to a DVD movie in my head. I can hear my characters speak and see their actions. I’m trying to make eye contact with my characters more, but it’s hard, just as much as doing eye-contact in real life!

Perhaps my writing and character development is a byproduct of my attempt to understand the world. I try to study and observe the actions of NT's around me. I may not look like I pay attention, but I am and secretly taking notes in my head.

I agree - people with ASDs are very creative, depending on their brain type (left or right brained). Welcome to the forum, from another writer.

best wishes,

Jillian
