Update:

Went to see the psychologist this morning.
Long story short: she wouldn't make a diagnosis because she was only about 70% sure of my Aspie traits. One argument was that we only had 3 appointments to make that diagnosis. Another argument was, that if I am an Aspie, I would have learnt coping methods (camouflage) to hide my lack of social skills, which also makes it more difficult to diagnose me.

Part of me is glad that I have that acknowledgement that she is quite sure of my Asperger's, the other part of me still wants to know for sure and get a diagnosis.

She recommended I get a diagnosis as well: in 4-6 months (waiting list) I will be invited to a specialist Autism center to do further tests.

Interesting development. You could however start with certain government agencies like UWV for certain 'benefits'; at least if you aren't in 'the system' yet.

First of all I wouldn't ask for benefits if I don't need them... and furthermore I didn't get an official diagnosis which means that I can't do anything like getting into the system yet. That's why I want to go to the more specialised autism center.

Groten vriendin.

Remember that a diagnosis is just a diagnosis (my best friend tells me this) and just be yourself.

I needed certain benefits, like notebook computers (not money) and guidance, when I was in school.

Otherwise I have the same attitude, but unfortunately when you need the system for once they are so slow and troublesome... When I was looking for a job I had a problem with communicating my enthusiasm. I was looking for a good course, but did not have the proper amount of money. Because I had a small job I was not entitled for most benefits and the REA-benefits (now somewhere in the WIA laws) where the only ones available for me. But before my status was renewed it was 4 months later. Therefore my advice is to go there once, get a status and next time you are recognized in a faster way.

I suspect you are holding a job now, so you will not be judged "Arbeidsongeschikt" but only get a "Arbeidshandicap" status. This status is not put on most records, so your employer will not find it out. It is also permitted to keep silent about this status. But it has benefits when you are looking for a new job. Like the possibility to offer your future employer smaller social costs (less WIA and ZFW premiums) and organize help.

Because it took so long in my case, I was lucky to find a good job on my own, but it took some time.
And to silence my conscience I get my payroll and look at the amount of taxes (40%! !! !!)
