Hello, i'm also new here. And like Shaggily also feel kind of comfortable here!

@Shiggily: Why do you try to find out what is WRONG with you?? Why not find out why (and in what aspects) you are DIFFERENT? I see no logical reason, why different should be the same as wrong. I.e. if your hair colour is differs from mine, I miss the logical step to state that your hair colour is wrong.

I heard about AS only a few days ago, self diagnosis was positive without the slightest shadow of doubt in my mind. Strangely, when I told my mother about that, she replied that she "knew" that for years (don't get that! but she is NT, that's probably why)! For me a whole new world opened up, for the first time in my life I had an expanation for me feeling different. And for the first time I had a glimpse at how NT think (although I suspect it is one of their rarer activities) due to (partly) understanding the differences. I also got a way better understanding of me, myself and I. Kind of what glider18 said!
On the other hand, it meant finding out how vastly different I realy am!

Sounds about right :D
We all have weaknesses, doesn't make sense wanting to keep them....
It's like me trying to learn social skills (although they don't seem to make any sense to me, they help me to get along with people). I was a lot worse, but I always try to learn, the fact that I am living in a somewhat largish family helps also I think (though it is not easy and I feel drained quickly!).

Hi Sharon,

I just wanted to let you know that I can totally relate to where you are right now. I just got diagnosed 3 days ago. I learned about AS 3 months ago. For 3 months I had the burning question of “does this really explain everything?” Answering this burning question became my obsession. I couldn't return to my normal routine of playing a video game in all my free time. All I could do was research AS, read these forums, and analyze my entire life over and over. It's so nerve racking. But like Glider18 said. If you have it, you have it. Try your best to be patient while the doctors catch up on learning what you already know.

Yap, it's also my current obsession. Still I won't get an official diagnosis, as I don't see the point. I think, when you can tick about every box there is, it's pretty damn clear anyways.
And it is absolutely incredible how much the last few days have changed!! It was a revelation to me!

I have enough problems with not understanding communication that I need the official diagnosis, if at least to get my university to stop screwing me over.

I can very well understand that. And I did not by any means want to suggest that my decision of not getting an official diagnosis is the right way for you. Anyways, I hope that your diagnosis will improve your situation greatly!
