I understand about wanting the official diagnosis.

I can appear to be normal too. I think I've been pretty good at adapting to social situations (work being the only one - I otherwise avoid them). The most people can probably say about me is that I'm extremely shy. So don't worry if the others don't believe you. You know yourself.

Yeah same for me. I am extremely shy but when around friends i am ok. It's just when you start looking at all the other things that fit you and are traits of AS, for example:

anxious at new social situations
obsessions
dislike of eye contact
interuppting people when they are talking (social awareness etc etc)
Unable to express feelings (even when i know how i feel)

And so on, an on, and on. :D :D

Sometimes i do think i read so much about it i think i have it more than i actually do,haha :D

I know what you mean. I fit the criteria pretty accurately, but there may be some things that I question. Perhaps AS manifests itself somewhat differently in women. From what I've read, there are less females diagnosed with it, so the current criteria is very likely limited to what they've seen from the males.

That is true.

I have never met (in person) a female with AS or autism. Everyone i work with are males. It would be interesting to meet a woman to gain some more perspective on the differences between genders :)

That's why I love this site. This and youtube have helped me relate to the female side of it a lot better. I hope you enjoy your time here and feel free to email me any time you want to chat.

I'm off to visit my mom and sister now. Have a great day! And be careful...WrongPlanet can and will become your next obsession.

:D
