What is your first name?
Andi, age 22

Hobbies and Interests:
Maths, sciences. Cars, especially hydrogen fuel cells and electric vehicles.

Why are you here?
Looking for people of diverse opinions who can appreciate the way I experience the world. I'm AS and Schizoaffective Disorder.

When were you diagnosed?
Childhood. I was a "frequent flier" in the school psychiatrist's office.

Favorite subjects:
Maths, Physics, Chemistry. Auto shop, carpentry. Building things, taking them apart.

Year/Grade:
Sophomore year of university (at community college), part three. I had to drop out twice, but I am determined to finish my degree now, as long as they leave me alone and give me funding. Starting sophomore year (part four) at university Fall 2010, not sure where I am going just yet.

Favorite music:
Depends on what I hope to accomplish. Pop for cleaning and exercise, jazz and classical for studying.

Books:
Mostly I shuffle through subjects.

TV shows/Movies:
Doctor Who, Top Gear, Mythbusters, Brainiac

Do you like sports?
I played a lot of sports as a child. Now, I don't play as much. I'd like to do rugby at university.

Family:
Dad, mum, sister, two brothers. All NT except for the youngest, who has ADHD, Tourette's, and an unidentified learning disability. A cousin has AS too, but he lives far away and his interests are incompatible with mine. I've got an uncle who's schizophrenic; he and I talk about astronomy and physics and science fiction.

Clothing:
I have a uniform of polos (in summer) and dress shirts (in winter) with dress slacks and brogues or Top-siders. It helps me look 'presentable', even when science is more important.

How did you find this website?
Searching for Top Gear quotes.

Job:
I lost my old job (and, consequently, my apartment) because I "lacked social skills" (probably in violation of ADA, but not worth it to file suit), but I am starting a new job at a shop in a few weeks. I am hoping that it will be satisfactory, even if it does mean working with customers. I wanted to work in the warehouse, but I'm not.

Plans for the future?
-- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (in progress)
-- Hoping to do PhD research on low-emissions vehicles.
-- Would like to live independently, maybe with a partner who can accept my quirks.

What is your first name? Kris (I am not a boy. ><)

Age: 18 (but I turn 19 soon)

Location: United States, OH

Hobbies and Interests: Art and computers.

Why are you here? Why not be here? Hah, no, I am just having trouble adjusting to college and it helps me to read about how other people have gotten through it. You all are fantastic inspirations.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): When I was nine years old in 1999.

Favorite subjects: Art, Engineering, Design, and English

Year/Grade: Freshman in college.

Favorite music: Anything that isn’t too loud. I think Snow Patrol is my favorite band though.

Books: I love books! <3 Oh, wait, you want to know my favorite books. Ummm, I dunno, I adore historical fiction books.

TV shows/Movies: STAR TREK! <3 Umm…yeah, I’m a total trekkie. Anyway, I like Hogan’s Heros, M*A*S*H, NCIS, Ghost Hunters, Miyazaki films like Spirited Away. As long as it doesn’t have gore in it I’ll watch it.

Instrument: I used to play the string bass, but then I quit because the orchestra teacher scared me. I kinda miss it.

Do you like sports? I’m not a competitive person in general, but if we’re playing for fun, then yes, I do. I love to play catch, and other games that don’t require touching other people. I hate watching sports though. I see no point in it.

Family: I have a family, yes. Offcampus I live with my parents and my brother who has high functioning autism and is very loud. My Mother's parents are around a lot, but I'm closest to my Father's Mother. We're very similar and she's just awesome. Oncampus I live with my roommate who is the most wonderful person in the world. She’s a social butterfly and she’s dragging me off to all these things. It’s terrifying, but it’s good for me. I think I’ll survive college.

Clothing: I’m always cold so I live in sweatshirts and jeans. I love jackets too and bright colors. I’m fond of rainbows. I have a rainbow sweatshirt that is really cool and looks like that old zebra gum. And…none of you needed to really know that, but I have rainbow shoes too.

How did you find this website? I’ve known about it for years, I just never really had a need for this sort of community before.

Job: College student and freelance artist. I did work full time at an advertising agency over the summer, but it sorta died so…yeah. Hooray for the economy and everything going inhouse!

Plans for the future? LIVING! Well, I want to graduate, and then I want to get my MFA, and then I want to get a job. If I ever manage to like…fall in love and start a family that’s freaking fantastic and it would make my Grandmother die happy, but it’s not really on my to-do list at the moment cause you know, boys have cooties and all.
