What is your first name? I prefer to go by my initials, L.K.

Age: 18

Location: Texas, near Houston.

Hobbies and Interests: My hobbies include collecting and customizing Asian ball jointed dolls, online roleplaying, writing, playing violin, and hypothesizing (I think this is a hobby anyway). I also enjoy fish-keeping but do not have any pet fish at this time. My interests include medical science, psychology, anthropology, sociology (specifically the mechanisms of subcultures), string theory, and similar patterns in seemingly non-similar things (I do not think I worded this well but it goes along with my hypothesizing  )

Why are you here? I have always had extreme difficulty socializing with and understanding other people and, it seems others can never understand me. I actually think my fascination with psychology and related sciences started as an attempt to understand and imitate other people (apparently this has worked only partially). I had previously suspected I have asperger’s. Recently I have been feeling increasingly overwhelmed and decided to look further into the possibility. The traits associated with asperger’s match up so well with mine over my lifetime I am convinced I would be diagnosed if I saw a professional. It would be nice to be understood but I am not certain whether being diagnosed would help or hurt. My main purpose being here is to better understand other people’s experiences with asperger’s and to decide whether or not to seek a professional opinion and whatever may come with that opinion.

When were you diagnosed?: The answer to the immediately previous question can answer this one as well.

Favorite subjects: Politics, almost any kind of science, Asian ball jointed dolls, human vs. animal behavior/traits, and pet fish keeping/health.

Year/Grade: I am in my first year of college.

Favorite music: Classical and rock. I enjoy music but have a difficult time actually keeping up with bands and names.

Books: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Universe in a Nutshell, The Picture of Dorian Gray, the Bible, and I also read various text books.

TV shows/Movies: My favourite TV shows include Nova, Nature, Mystery Diagnosis, Lost, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, and The Big Bang Theory. My favourite movies include Edward Scissorhands, The Lord of The Rings trilogy, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Forest Gump.

Instrument: I play the violin as a hobby.

Do you like sports? I abhor spectator sports and do not participate in sports activities.

Family: I don’t understand? I have one brother and two parents. XD

Clothing: Mine are usually black.

How did you find this website? I googled “Aperger’s Syndrome forum” and this website was one of the first hits. I must admit, I clicked on the link because I liked the name.

Job: I am currently a college student.

Plans for the future? My main plan is to become a research-physician in the field of neurology.

Any comments? I do not have anything further to say at this time.
^_^

What is your first name? Angela

Age: 35

Location: MI

Hobbies and Interests: Dogs, the kids, gardening

Why are you here? More to confirm what i believe i have, AS. And to learn more about what my son has.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): not officially dx'd. Whenever i get myself to a dr, i am going to mention social anxiety cause it interferes with my daily living. Might as well bring it all out and they may believe me more seeing that my son has already been dx'd.

Favorite subjects: art, music and biology

Year/Grade: c/o '93

Books: VC Andrews, anything on ASD and mostly children's books! (i have a collection, for the kids, of course, i swear!)

TV shows/Movies: Survivor, LOST, old 80's shows like fresh Prince, iCarly. Love watching it with my kids. For once, my almost 11 year old will watch a show his peers are watching, and i find it rather amusing! We love to laugh!

Instrument: I have played the concert and marching french horn in marching and concert bands and the trombone in jazz band in school.

Do you like sports? I like watching hockey games. I like shooting baskets, riding bikes, rollerblading. Probably it.

Family: Mom (possibly ADD or something) and stepdad. A sister who has her own issues and in denial about everything, a brother who has ADD, I have a bf of 13 years who i suspect has ADD, our son who has AS and ADD and a daughter with a speech delay.

Clothing: usually pants and t-shirt. Love my winter beanie. I feel safe with it on and sorta recluse when out in public. Not into fashion, really.

How did you find this website? I forget.

Job: Nope, scared to get one, but i need to try and get over it and just get one!

Plans for the future? Getting a job lol! Finding one that interests me, not dealing with the public and even possibly working from home would be awesome!

Any comments? I don't think...
