When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Diagnosed with ADD in elementry school, and then re-diagnosed with Aspergers when I was 15.

Favorite subjects: Foriegn languages, world history, art.

Year/Grade: Working up the patience to try college.

Favorite music: Electronic, industrial, rock, trip hop, classical.

I'm really happy I found this website. I'd given up trying to learn more. The worst thing in the world is milling around Barnes & Noble trying to find books about autism. Ugh!

When were you diagnosed: I have an appoitment with a diagnostician in a week -- we'll see. However my fiancee is an animal behaviologist and she thinks I meet most if not all of the criteria

Favorite music: classic rock, blues, fusion jazz, dave bruebeck, funk

books: Hammers Slammers, David Eddings, RA Salvatore, Bill Bryson, lot of other sci-fi / Fantasy, michael connely

tv shows / movies: NCIS, all creatures great and small, sherlock holmes (with jeremy brett), star trek, star wars (only the original movies), spaceballs, buckaroo banzai across the 8th dimension

Instrument: does tapping my fingers count? I'm good at running a soundboard / mixingboard for bands -- I can't really play anything but I'm good at making other people sound good. Drums in rockband the game.
Do I like sports: I play frisbee golf, I like watching NFL football

Family: Dad and mom -- don't talk to them that much, feel uncomfortable around them a lot of the time, younger sister -- she's really cool, finishing up her masters work in geology, my fiancee Lauren -- she's my best friend

Clothing: I dress better now because of having Lauren in my life, if left to my own devices I'll just wear anything. Like cargo pants so I always have a place to keep screwdrivers, pocketknife, etc.

Plans for the future: I'd like to get some land in NY or some other place with lots of woods and a stream and build a small house and live off the grid as much as possible -- generate my own power, be ecofriendly. Also have a lot of dogs there.

I am self diagnosed, been to psychiatrists alot but i have problems being truthful or opening up enough for anyone to really get a read on me

Music: this is hard.. listening to ween right now (all hail boognish)

Books: hard as well, re-reading Huxleys Island along with the tibetan book of the dead and a frank zappa book at the moment

Shows/movies: Arrested development!! ! Tarkovskys Stalker.. Kubrick.. Gaspar Noe is one of my newer faves

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I haven't been officially diagnosed but I believe I have AS with a side of ADHD, CAPD and possibly some Dyslexia mixed in there. I want to get a diagnosis but I have a lot of difficulty describing what I'm feeling and I have very little memory recollection aside from a few events

Favorite subjects: Computer science and graphic design

Year/Grade: High school graduate, couple years of University (comp sci) before i quit, gratuated from a vocational school in the Microcomputer Systems Technican program

Favorite music: orchestral and piano instrumentals and anything from Linkin Park

Books: I can't read....not that I'm illiterate but I get extremely bored when reading books and I don't retain any information or words that I read so I find it pointless to try

TV shows/Movies: CSI (all 3 shows), Leverage, Family Guy, Simpsons, Seinfeld, Friends, What Not to Wear, How'd They Do That, Dollhouse, Heroes, Supernatural, Skip Beat, Naruto, Bleach, Glee, Whose Line is it Anyway?....there are others but thats all I can think of for now

Do you like sports? Only basketball and handball, i used to play both in elementary and highschool but I could only play defense, i was useless on offense

Plans for the future? If the future went the way I wanted it to, I'd be working in the video game industry in the writing and concept departments....but since things never go the way I want, I would really just wanna buy my own house and live on my own (currently I'm at my parents while I pay for my car). I want a space (other than my bedroom) where everything is mine. I would also like to get married and have kids one day...but since I usually run away or look away from the guys I like and have a lot of difficulty talking to them face to face, i think its safe to say that wont happen lol. i'm not completely ruling the possibility out but i like to remain realistic

Any comments? I absolutely luv this website. All my life I never really found anyone like myself so I always felt islolated and left out. But now that I read through the posts in the communities, I feel like I'm not alone anymore

Kind of an off topic question, but has anyone listened to the song "Welcome to My Life" by Simple Plan and thought, OMG that's me! When I first heard it years ago that was my very reaction. Though they didnt create the song for me, it made me feel like someone finally understood how i felt (here's a link to the lyrics if you havent heard it before click me!) when I finally go to see a doctor about getting a diagnosis, probably my first step will be to print out the lyrics and say "this is how i feel" and maybe that will help me with my problems with explaining myself

Plans for the future? Understanding my family. Sometimes I think I have Aspie aspects, and then I see bits in each of my children, but my youngest is the strongest.

Any comments? I have no idea what I'm doing. I do know that Autism/Asperger's/ADHD isn't "cured", it's not an illness, I have no idea what neuro typical looks like. I want to understand why my husband and child do the things they do, and know what to do to make their lives better.
