Good afternoon Ma'am! I am a social studies lover from Singapore.

Ma'am, I am curious what are your favorite aspects of social studies? What do you usually teach in Grade 7? I remember when I was 12 or so, I learnt about the landforms of Singapore as well as Southeast Asian history... So may I know what do you teach in your school?

Ma'am, like you, I am also a fan of 80's music (I love Duran Duran!) and college football (GO Wolverines, go Blue!) and I also like the book 'Too Kill A Mockingbird'. Hope you'll enjoy your time here on WP!

Hi Bob! Welcome to WP!

Not to worry, you aren't boring, you're just practical. I hope to see more of your posts here, so that I can help you with 'emptiness' in your life. Look at the star, they're shining just for you... (My advice, that is, though I am only 19 :x)

Thank you for your response, ruennsheng. My favorite aspects of social studies are first, geography, and second, history. This is most likely because they are static and predictable, rather than economics and government which are fluid and everchanging, and also subject to a great deal of interpretive license. The seventh grade curriculum here in Georgia (USA) covers certain aspects of the history, geography, economics, and governments of select countries/regions of the eastern hemisphere (inc. Singapore). I am very interested in learning more about you home country. Singapore intriques me greatly. My favorite college team is Alabama because my two step-children attend there. We just won the National Championship recently "Roll Tide!" Thanks again for your reply.

Ma'am, thank you for your reply.

I am glad Bama won because the current football team is doing very well, a national championship with a Heisman Trophy winner. I think this is a good way to end the noughties (2000's)!

Ma'am, Singapore is a very small country of about 300 square miles and 5 million people. It is perhaps one of the few remaining city-states in the world, but it is quite affluent --- as my country has over US$32000 in per capita gross domestic product. Singapore has direct flights to various cities the United States, including Newark, Los Angeles and Houston. Singapore is tipped to have more international recognition in this coming year as it hosts the Youth Olympic Games, which occurs in the month of June this year, and my wonderful city-state will play host to various sports events for young athletes throughout the world, to interact and bond with one another. Singapore is located in the tropical climate, hence summer wear is acceptable in most parts of my counntry. I hope to help in sharing more about Singapore when the opportunity arises.

I am glad I learned more about Georgia's social studies curriculum. Thank you, Ma'am! :)

What is your first name? Jingo :) RL name not really relevent.

Age: 31

Location: Yorkshire, England

Hobbies and Interests: Skating and computers, either internet browsing or games (mostly online)

Why are you here? Diagnosed AS, ADHD-PI (ADD) and still investigating possible disgraphia or similar (my written/typed comunication is far far behind my intelect and verbal.
I'm looking for ways to cope with certain related issues and hope to meet some likeminded people.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Yesterday formally.

Favorite subjects: Maths :)

Favorite music: Varied depending on mood, i like what i like.

Books: Don't really read, tho i did read the happy potter series and when younger the Discworld novels.

TV shows/Movies: I don't watch much TV, i tend to be on my computer, but i do like sci-fi and films generally. TV wise recently BSG and Spooks, previously Buffy, Angel, all the star trecks. Film wise i watch a lot (usually at night on my own, it's my form of shutting down my mind and relaxing). The typical fave film responce is Dead Poet Society, but i might change that to the Dark Knight which i really like too, if for no other reason then it fits the sterotype better.

Instrument: None, ever.

Do you like sports? Yes i skate (quad and inline), have for 20+ years. I used to do a lot more sports and still would if the chance came along, ie someone i can get on with to do it with. I find the social requirements of clubs not worth the effort vs the enjoyment of the sport.

Family: Married with a 1 year old daughter. Wouldn't swap it for the world, most of the time, but at the same time i wish they didn't need so much of my attention and interaction.

Clothing: Either skater style dressed down or very smart suit or smart/casual, i don't really do inbetween as i dress for a purpose usualy.

How did you find this website? a random link following a random link following a random link.

Job: Payroll Manager

Plans for the future?
Understand myself better
Cope better
Learn to achieve the same with less effort
Keep everything I have together and hopefully learn to appreciate it more and lessen the negatives.

Any comments?
I find it really hard to post about myself and it takes me forever to type out something that looks close to what i'm thinking, so i get very discouraged when i don't get replies to posts, can't get people to understand or just don't get any usefull/interesting replies. I fully understand though that people post for their own reasons and i have no devine right to be helped :)
I have some specific challenges around over thinking causing frustration and tiredness/meltdowns, plus general areas of frustration due to immense effort for poor results. I need to learn to put in less effort but achieve better results. Possible? who knows.

I also have a hard time when people don't respond, although I'm getting better at not taking it personally.

And I can relate to the overthinking. It can be quite problematic.

15 and playing all of those instruments? That's awesome; I wish I would have started playing so young.

Have you ever heard of Philip Glass? Right now I'm working out playing Opening.

Do you like any composers other than Back and Mozart?

What is your first name?Chastin (Its a family name, French, although my fathers adopted so im not genetically french)

Age: ill be 20 tommorow

Location:Good ol Upstate SC but i miss the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forrest of my birthplace

Hobbies and Interests: Music, Learning new fighting moves, Console and PC video games, Reading, Writing, Being out in the woods getting stoned, and fishing

Why are you here?To communicate with like minded individuals as Ive ever met another aspie and before i discovered this place i was not fully aware of what I was

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):As a child at some place in Asheville it was recommended by my kindergarten teacher who also convinced my mom to make me repeat that grade

Favorite subjects:When I was in school I found US history, world history, American Literature, and British Literature (basically English class in 11th and 12th grade) the most interesting

Year/Grade:O Nine!! ! was what all the loud rowdy NT's of my graduating class used to shout

Favorite music:A little of everything but almost nothing that sees mainstream radio play. Underground Rap, 90's Gangster Rap, Psychopathic Rap, Acid Rap, Horror-Core Rap, Rip-Hop, all forms of metal except black metal and hair metal, Alternative Country (cant stand the mainstream Nashville sound), 1940's Swing, Jazz, Folk, and of course Grunge the music I grew up with :)

Books:Ham on Rye, Post Office, I like Charles Bukowski's poetry as well, On the Road, Things Fall Apart, Shades Children, Fahrenheit 451, Flowers for Algernon, The Old Man and the Sea, Animal Farm, Why do Pretty People have more daughters?, Death Note, V for Vendetta, No Country for Old men, The Guns of Navaronne

TV shows/Movies:King of the Hill, South Park, SuperJail, Beavis and Butthead, UFC, Strikeforce, Elite XC, Pride, and Ninja Warrior for TV then for movies the list is much to long so ill just leave it with my top three favorite V for Vendetta, Drugstore Cowboy, and American History X

Instrument:My first was Alto Sax but i haven't touched it since 8th grade band class, then i learned the harmonica, then guitar, then i dabbled in the mandolin but i prefer the combination of guitar and my own voice

Do you like sports? Paintball, MMA, and Fishing, participate in all three, although not seriously, but I only enjoy watching the first too.

Family: Very Very large extended family with an immediate family consisting of me, my mother my step-father, and two step brothers. Then i also have my biological father his wife and two biological half siblings. I started life as an illegitimate child obviously

Clothing:baggy saggy jeans or cargo shorts, a lot of black and other dark colors, black sneakers are the only kind of shoes ill wear other than my combat boots, i run around barefoot most of the time in summer

How did you find this website? I honestly don't remember the specifics but i think i found it looking up the film Mozart and the Whale on IMDB after seeing it on showtime because when i get on the internet I usually loose track interest in the original purpose of my Google searches and end up going off in all directions looking at all things related to the initial topic

Job:dont remind me please... im about to start going to Tech School

Plans for the future?I live for the day

Any comments?
I welcome all opinions especially if any cool aspie chics wanna discuss how interesting I am

What is your first name? Andre

Age: 56

Location: Quito Ecuador I lived here since August 2008. Living in foreign countries has been my way of coping with Asperger's.

Hobbies and Interests: Stock Trading, Bible, and God's Kingdom.

Why are you here? Don't know yet. I am an "aspie" definitely born on the wrong planet. I read some of your posts and can relate. So, I guess I am hoping to find some comfort here.

When were you diagnosed?: First in California in July 2008 and a second diagnosis, which only confirmed the first, in December 2009, here in Quito.

Favorite subjects: Bible, I was always good in math and am learning Microsoft Access on my own as I design data bases. I also am learning the Hispanic Ecuadorian culture and am in the advance level of Spanish. I need to interact with other natives besides my Spanish tutor, not easy for me.

Year/Grade: Believe it or not, never got my masters or an Accredited Bachelors, I detest academia. I attempted an online masters program in 2007, but couldn't handle the stress and did not like being forced to classes outside of my interests. Also, I had to post "small talk" words of encouragement to my cohort mates regularly. It was a joke, copying comments from the other NT's and pasting them then, trying to change them enough to look like they were coming from me.

Favorite music: I don't listen to music except in church. I enjoy worshiping God with music even though it hurts the ears of those around me.

Books: I read the Bible, almost yearly. I am now reading it in Spanish. I also devoured Steven Covey's 8 habits and other self help books. I still use the Covey planning program.

TV shows/Movies: I watch "Big Bang" but do not believe God accepts sex before marriage. I also like "Lie to me" It seems like they are all re-runs now. I enjoyed "Adam" but I was sad that his girlfriend did not married him. I have been married to an NT for 25 years, but have been in marriage counseling for most of the time. It kept us together but did not help us much because the conselors did not understand Asperger's. Since the diagnosis, I have hopes things are getting better.

Instrument: I lived in Thailand from 1985 till 2006. There, I became "native" while living among the Isaan people in Norteast Thailand. I played the "Khaen" a bamboo pipe instrument and used it to lead them in worshiping God.

Do you like sports? I was always the guy pushed to the other team after everyone was picked. So, no.

Family: Wife: Karen (teaching at a Christian international school) and four children: Aimee age 21 (studying film in a university in Thailand), Esther 19 (married and with her husband are in junior college here in Quito), Nathanael 16 and Naomi 14.

Clothing: I wear clothes but have to ask others if what I am wearing is appropiate before going out for each occasion.

How did you find this website? google search engine on asperger's

Job: Missionary

Plans for the future? The "Entra en mi mundo" enter in my world Autism center has prepared a Individualized Education Plan and plan to start me on it next week. Hey they charged $75 for the tests and the 1 year plan is $5 a month. There are benefits for ASPIES living overseas. I am planning to volunteer with an AIDS organization, I had previously had success working with AIDS patients. They seem to tolerate me more than other NTs, and I was able to bring happiness to them with my visits.

Any comments? NO, just glad to know that I am not alone and that their are others like me on this planet.
