Been posting frequently for almost a week now. Probably ought to fill in some info:

What is your first name?
Lars

Age:
44 for now. I'm thinking of being 53 next year just so I can get that out of the way early.

Location:
Los Angeles

Hobbies and Interests:
Photography, documentary film making, animation, graphics

Why are you here?
To give and get a bit of compassion. My really selfish motive is I want prove to others that I have value. I try to be helpful to others and hopefully I'll get a bit of appreciation in return.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Not diagnosed. Not even sure if I would be labeled with anything, although I have most of the traits associated with Aspergers. Read “Nobody Nowhere” years ago and could relate. Later learned about Aspergers from an article. Sounded very much like me. At any rate, it's a useful way of looking at myself.

Favorite subjects:
Theoretical physics and quantum mechanics, skepticism, critical thinking, evolutionary biology, art and creativity, film making

Year/Grade:
Have a B.A. in... get this... Theater.

Favorite music:
Folk and Blues: Tom Waits, Mississippi John Hurt, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Baby Gramps

Books:
Just read “QED” by Richard Feynmen, “Parallel Worlds” by Michio Kaku, trying once again to read “Oliver Twist” by Dickens. My favorite book in a long time however is “Never Let Me Go” by Kazuo Ishiguro – I'd be interested to hear if others think this is a very Aspie kind of book.

TV shows/Movies:
The PBS News Hour, “Paris, Texas” “The American Astronaut” “Crimes and Misdemeanors”

Instrument:
A camera because I can't even play the kazoo.

Do you like sports?
Don't like sports, but I do a lot of cycling.

Family:
Have been single all my life. Get along well with my parents and brother, although I am probably more distant than they would like.

Clothing:
Mostly Dockers and a button up shirt. It allows me to be acceptable in most situations without requiring that I deal with a new wardrobe.

How did you find this website?
Found the site a while back proably through a search on Aspergers

Job:
Motion graphics designer and animator for a small film production company.

Plans for the future?
Hmmm... I can't think of any. Maybe that's what I need to be working on.

Any comments?
I think the best thing in life is learning new stuff. It keeps it fun and interesting.

Sounds like fun. I like picking a general direction and then driving in that area, getting myself mildly lost. But I haven't explored even close to what you have.

Welcome.

First name: Genevieve

Age: 28

Location: North Country San Diego, California

Hobbies and interests: Wow. There's a bunch.
-Gaming: mostly simulation games like Sims, Sim City, Civilzation, Age of Empires, Harvest Moon. adventure or mystery games. LOVE Fallout (all, 1-3). Some other favs are Elder Scrolls (especially Oblivion), Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, The Witcher. I have an obsession with point and click games as well. They usually have interesting plots and neat puzzles. Those are my "had a rough day, need to vege" games :P I also like paper games. I enjoy World of Darkness the most but I also like DnD.
-Geography (LOVE maps),
-Reading
-History (especially Salem Witch Trials, Ancient Egyptian, WWII)
-Writing
-Etymology. Love the origins of names as well.
-Genealogy.
-Crochet
-Photography
-Baking, especially bread
-I collect pens *blush*. Random, I know...

Why are you here? My husband is diagnosed with Asperger's and he suspects I'm an Aspie as well, although I haven't been diagnosed. It would exlain A LOT. I used to not feel the need to be diagnosed, but lately huge life changes (moved far from my family and everyone I know, we became parents) have thrown all my routines and stuff out the window. Things are just so chaotic. I'm not doing the whole "multi-tasking" thing that parenting seems to require. I'm hoping to find out how to go about getting tested and if there are good drs near my area. I'm thinking if I know WHY I think and do thing the way I do I can figure out how to restructure my life accordingly. I'm also hoping to meet others like me :) Maybe they have good advice and are maybe just good company as well

When were you diagnosed? Haven't been. My husband was diagnosd in the summer of 2004. I really want to see a dr. and see if I actually do have Asperger's as well. Not sure how to go about that. We live really far from where my husband's old dr. is (it's hard to find a good dr these days)

Fav Subjects: They were always English and History. I once took a whole class dedicated to Tolkien in college. That was AWESOME.

Year/Grade: uh, none. I'm old :P

Fav Music: I like a little of everything. Some of my all-time fav bands/artists are The Beatles, Pixies, Paul Simon, The Cure, REM, Radiohead, Interpol, Zap Mama, Massive Attack, Thievery Corp. Some of my current favs are Vampire Weekend, Pheonix, Lady Gaga. I have a girl crush on Beyonce :P

Books: Anything by Dashiell Hammett. Anything by Shakespeare (although Romeo and Juliet is seriously played out). Insomnia, Bag of Bones, The Shining, The Dark Tower by Stephen King. A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. The Alice nonsense stories by Carroll. Breakfast of Champions by Vonnegut. Sophie's World by Gaarder. Fav is true crime, history, philosophy/religion, horror, thrillers. I like manga and manhwa as well. My favs are Ouran High School Host Club, Tarot Cafe, Kitchen Princess, and Telepathic Wanderers. I like Comics as well. My favorite is The Books of Magic by Gaiman. I also LOVE X-Men. I think Cry For Dawn has just about the best art I've ever seen. Lately I have been enjoying Grimm Fairy Tales. The art is amazing in that one as well.

TV/Movies: Dexter, Veronica Mars, Firefly, House, Heroes,True Blood, Medium, Good Eats, Chopped (although I think there is evidence the competition is seriously rigged). I enjoy cooking shows, documentaries (my favs are true crime, history and religion), horror, and mysteries.I also lke some anime. My favs are Gunslinger Girl, Mushi Shi, OHSHC, xxxHolic, and Genshiken. Some fav movies are Raiders...,Stand By Me, Kill Bill, Reservior Dogs, The Professional, District B-13, almost any comic book made into a movie. My favs of those are the first 2 X-Men, Iron Man, Hellboy. I Love Bollywood movies (but strangely cannot stand English language/Western culture musicals). Some of my favs are Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Refugee, and Asoka. My fav actors are Steve Buscemi (any movie is better with him in it), John Cusack, Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Steve McQueen, Gary Cooper, Marilyn Monroe, Jewel Staite, Natalie Portman, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Aishwaria Rai, Shahrukh Khan. My new favorite actor is that guy who played Victor on Dollhouse, Enver Gjokaj. That dude can ACT. Best thing about that show actually.

Instruments: Clarinet, Alto Sax, Guitar (just beginning with that one). Yes, I'm a former band geek (forever on ein my heart though :P)

Sports?: Not a big sports fan. Like Hockey though. I also enjoy going to baseball games, more for the food and experience than the game.

Family: Husband named Jason, son named Cameron (just 4 months! So sweet). My parents are still married and my little bro and sis (22 and 20 respectively) still live with them.

Clothing: I can't let go of Grunge. I love my Flannels and Docs. Can't stand Silk. It gives me the creeps is the best way to describe it. I just cannot stand to touch it. Weird maybe. I don't know, I'm big on texture.

How did I find the website?: Was looking up reviews on "Adam". Found some really interesting stuff on here. Decided to stay :D

Job: Stay at Home Mom, hopefully I can start my at-home Copy-editing business

Plans for the future: Just to continue to have a happy home (but try to get more organized for my sanity :P). Hope to start my business, as previously mentioned. maybe become an author? Would maybe like more kids...WAY down the line. Would love to have a ranch somewhere colder and more remote.

comments?: Not much. Just happy to be here and maybe meet others with some good advice or who share some of my interests.
