You see? I've done it again! Just one little paragraph of that muck oozes out of me and not only does it kill the thread, but the whole site crashes!

OK. Guess I did sort of notice a pattern to the crashing.

Thanks!

I do know about editing, and have done it. I just never even imagined going back in time and editing from a page or so before. It's sort of like people I've met who have said or done something to me, and then days, weeks, months or years later claimed that they said or did something entirely different or not at all. Like I'm making it all up. I hate it when that happens in real life. And that's happening here? That's sort of blowing my mind! But there's another, bigger problem: How do I know when and what I should remove, add, or change? If I knew that, then that would be worthwhile information. And those emoticon things are still baffling. Maybe I need minders. You know like those people who accompany visitors to totalitarian countries who make sure they only see, say, do and go as they are supposed to.

They did them at the other site I started posting to 4 weeks ago. If I posted anything that anybody didn't like, I'd be CORRECTED. Of course I also got heavily evangelized by two people who wanted to convert me to their religion; repeatedly hit up for giving someone money; and repeatedly hit upon for sex so that I had to explain that I was sorry but I wasn't Gay to one guy who then offered to convert me, and that I was sorry but I was Gay to two women one of whom offered to convert me; and then there was a constant barrage of political rants and hate-filled accusations that eventually got hurled at me from the Left (mostly, and that's because of the site's geographic location) and the Right because I'm not a member of either the Left or the Right or any cultural group. And then, of course, came the inevitable shunning. All in 3 weeks!

That's why I happened to be stumbling around the internet and stumbled in here.

So far . . . OOPS! Sofa, this place seems wonderful.

Alan (not to be confused with Alan)

You see? I really can edit.

And I read how you edited that post. That was a very nice thing to say. But I thought you had better judgment than that! Better edit that post again! OH NO! Does this mean I have to go back and re-read every post I responded to or every response to a post I made, to make it hasn't been edited so that my response or post has to be edited too? Waves of anxiety!! It's a Tsunami!

SLEEPYDRAGON!! !! Your edits are just pure unadulterated evil! And I ought to know! Because I have a bit of experience with evil. And I am absolutley unadulterated. Never got to that stage. You're making my tummy hurt from hyperventilating! Short answer: NO.

If anyone really wants that badly to get your attention about something, they will either add a new post entry, or send you a PM.

I've only been active on one other site besides this one, and the rules there were very different. Before posting in a thread, you had to read all of it, or at least the last 15 days/15 pages of content. In theory anyone could create a thread but in practice few people did, because anything considered inflammatory or frivolous was instantly shut down, and the OP warned or banned permanently. Most rigidly policed was the "No Boards on Boards" rule, which essentially meant "You may discuss anything except your fellow posters or people who post on other boards. No exceptions. EVER."

The standards here are very relaxed by comparison.

Where can the rules for this place be read?

I have one a minder. Normaly I call her, The Wife, SwampBlossom, or :? 8O Sometimes I even use her given name, but she's hip to that. I use it when I want something and am too lazy to get it myself. She really does take care of me, makes sure I remember to eat, sometimes has to remind me to drink, sometimes I think she's going to drive me to drink. She's a keeper.

Hey!! I didn't use the words, stuff and though in that one. Drats, I did use sometimes alot though. I mean sometimes you need filler in this stuff.

Is that like a Pinxterflower?

The Swamp Azalea? The Swamp Honey . . . OH NO! . . . suckle?

[To Whom it May Concern: That's one of the real colloquial names for this species. I can't help it!]

Lordy! It gets worse! You know . . . the . . . Rhododendron . . . nudiflorum?

[To Whom it May Concern: That is its real scientific name. I can't help it! Well, it might be lumped into R. periclymenoides at this point, but the name is still used a lot. It's confusing. Like everything. Give me a break.]

Oh great! So now she has hips, too!

I really hate to say this, but I envy you. I mean, I'm too lazy to get anything myself. Maybe that's why I don't got nothin?

Ya think?

But in your case, perhaps you might consider letting her work on that post of yours before you put it here. Might cut down on your word count. Might cut down on your post count. Might cut down on your coming here count. Might cut down on your . . . NO! CUMMERBUNS!

[To Whom it May Concern: They're called posts! I can't help that either!]

But you did use words! And you posted them! And you know what that means! Yes! You've just incited an immature adolescent mind! How could you do such a thing? Don't you know the rules?

when people post

with lots of space between the lines

we really eat

up a lot

of bandwidth

but then nobody

worries about

bandwidth

anymore - do

they?

It seem to me

so strange

to not end these posts

with many spacings between

them

and not have

the tag line

"Burma Shave"

under the post

so,

here goes.

Good morning! :D I do believe it is going to be a fabulous day! I woke up to Louis Armstrong on the radio and the sound of my independent, socially-gifted :? middle son getting ready for his first day of high school.

It makes me sad that my children and I will never know what it was like to live in a kinder, simpler world.

Dear sinsboldly:Sorry, but this really is the first site I ever posted at, and I never exchanged emails with people I didn't know until 4 weeks ago either, and that's the way my brain organizes words (like in little tiny bits, and there's a lot of empty space in there) and then it just gets typed out that way. What's bandwidth? So, whatever it is, I just compressed some of my previous entries here so they are unintelligble to me, but maybe that's better for others. OK? Sorry to start off your morning with shaving. - Alan (obviously not the other one)

Good morning and good for you. I'd give you a muffin but I don't have any.

The thought of the first day of high school is very disquieting for me. No matter what happens though, the last day of high school should be wonderful. Although I suppose you might not like it. But, I understand that children these days are staying home well into their 30's, so maybe the empty nest business will be put off for a few decades.

But I don't like biting my tongue! It hurts when I do that. Like at least once a day.

Have you considered boarding school?

wit - the one thing about editing - you can only do it in the first 9999 minutes of your post. after that, it's permanent.

living at home until 30. well, it does make economic sense. i mean, if you're going to go out and make minimum wage or just slightly more (which with a bachelor of arts degree most do), and if rents are like $900 a month plus bills for an efficiency/studio/one-room apartment... even in my math-impaired brain it's better to have the kid stay at home, kick in some for expenses, and stash the rest away rather than tossing it to a landlord. besides, you wouldn't be able to pay for food, transportation, and your student loan bills for that degree back on what was left over after the rent.

since my kid is an aspie, the getting a roommate and splitting the cost of a two-bedroom place is out of the question, i think. (it would be slightly less than the $900 scenario, but they'd try to kill each other within a month. and the legal fees would just kill me.)

at least if she's living in the basement she can feed the cats when i go on vacation.
