Favorite music: A mix of black metal, thrash, doom, Goth, industrial, trance, electro, dubstep, indie, shoegaze, chart pop and female vocalists. I'm fairly open minded really.

Books: Horror and crime thrillers.

TV shows/Movies: Dexter and The Big Bang Theory. Horror, gore, thrillers and the occasional comedy.

Do you like sports? I go to the gym, I run, do weight training and if I wasn't so screwed up in the head would still be doing martial arts. I watch boxing occasionally, but have no interest in team sports.

Family: Live with my fiance of 6 years. Am fairly close to my brother, mum and dad and have several estranged half brothers/sisters.

Why are you here? Well, I'm an aspie — and a rather lonesome one, at that.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): At the age of seven.

Favorite subjects: Economics and Western philosophy would be my abiding obsessions. Also quite disarmingly fond of international history, mathematics, music (theory and history as well as frivolous iPoddery), and the natural sciences. (Have no fear: I'm every bit as insufferably pretentious as that would suggest. )

Year/Grade: I would have been in S4 (Scottish equivalent of Y11/10th grade) if I still attended a mainstream school. Owing to some rather inhospitable circumstances, I've been educated at home for the past while.

Favorite music: Jazz, Balkan traditional, Korean traditional, Middle Eastern traditional, Indian classical, Western classical, Western popular (electric blues, classic rock, experimental rock, progressive rock, progressive metal), electronic art music.

Books: Classics, science fiction, all manner of tenebrous reference material.

TV shows/Movies: Movies: Classics of any genre, from the silent film era to contemporary works. TV Shows: Classics of British and American comedy, from the 1950s to the present day. Why are you here? To have a community where I fit in, to share what I've learned, to learn from others.

When were you diagnosed? I have never sought a professional diagnosis. I didn't realize I had the disorder until a few years ago, when I learned what the symptoms are. My child has PDD, and in the process of learning about it I realized I had the same symptoms (nonverbal, loud noises driving me crazy) when I was very young.

Favorite subjects: I spend a lot of time doing research on the internet on health issues, theories of autism and other medical issues, environmental subjects and other things I'm interested in. Kind of boring, I know. I like most sports, various kinds of music, food (a little too much), movies that have a good story, but don't have much time lately to spend on those things. Occasionally though.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Officially? I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in either late 2005/early 2006. I am not certain of the exact dates, for I didn't know what was happening at the time. However, my father starting thinking that I might have it when I was five or six. He was researching it. I had the signs starting in infancy, but my parents didn't know what AS was when I was little.

Favorite subjects: History, anything related to language

Year/Grade: American High School = 9th grade

Favorite music: Classical/classical, what is referred to as "Indie" (especially "Indie Folk" and "Indie Rock"), "Classic" Rock (such as the Beatles)... Mostly anything, really, except for modern Western "Pop".

Books: Most of them.

TV shows/Movies: I am not very into modern films, though I do appreciate ones from the mid-20th Century and earlier.

When were you diagnosed? Not until 1997. Before this I was in special school and grew up with other autistic children. I believe I missed out on not having a proper diagnosis until much later on. AS wasn't known about in the 80's exactly, I think it was 1994 when it was accepted as a condition in it's own right.

Favorite music: I like ALL kinds/genres of music...

Books: I don't read anywhere near as much as would be good for me, I mostly buy a newspaper but only do the puzzles!

TV shows/Movies: I mostly flick between two channels, CI (Crime And Investigation) and Sky Sports News! Among my favourite movies are Paris, Texas... Twin Town... and Mad Love...

Why are you here? My psychiatrist suggested that I get to know other people with autism.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): several separate times when I was little, and again about a year ago, probably for the last time since now they have a computer system that shares my record with all the doctors.

Favorite subjects: My Little Pony, socks, and mostly things that are consequential and that avoid death and the ejection of stomach contents.

Year/Grade: If I were still in school, I'd be starting grade 26 this fall.

Favorite music: I'm deaf.

each year, contribute to the newsletter, assist the facilitator, problem solve when issues come up in the groups i also
look out for potential new members.

Plans for the future? to work with autistics in one capacity or another.

Any comments? i have major difficulty reading between the lines of my words, let alone others. i have other disabilities as well as Aspergers. i object to terms like the 'r' word and the 'n' word (used against mental health survivors) being used as everyday language.
