Well, I'll miss you Robyn.

As to Quatermass, I guess I'm just doomed to always miss you, no matter how cuddly you are.

I'm heading back to work on other more important things than cleaning up after myself.

For twosies I don't like corners, I get claustrophobic. Especially if there's anyone already in it.
For threesies, I'm not even sure what a Godwit is, so YOU stand with him in the corner.

I gotta go play with my rpg... uh, my blowgun. blowpipe. uh, whatever the hell it is. hope it goes "poof" or at least "thwoop". shineeeyyy.

Nope, I'm filling out school forms and jotting down IEP ideas based on the class outlines I have for kid #3. This could take me all night!! !

I have to sign permission forms for him to be able to watch Lord of the Rings and The Outsiders in class!

Really? Wow, things are sure different there!

I guess I can see that, though. They're pretty young, right? Young teens? I couldn't look at the screen for a lot of the first of the three LOTR movies. Spent a lot of time scrunched down in my seat wincing.

Then again, I'm kind of embarrassed to say that the first time I saw the second of the trilogy (I think that's the one with the Gondor younger brother, Faramir, in it?) and he led his guys out on that cavalry charge that I got so upset I had to leave the theatre. Took quite a while to calm down, too. Silly me, I tend to suspend disbelief if the movie's halfway good and that one just got me by the throat. (Am I a wuss, or what! )

The third one, well, anything that starts out with a murder kind of blows ya away for the rest of the movie.

Not so bad on small screen, but in the theatre, with the surround sound and all... oh my. They are very well done, really. But so much emphasis on the battles and the gore - I wish they'd have put more in about the people. But I guess that doesn't sell movie tickets, does it, these days?

SO, I guess having a permission slip isn't all that bad.

They made US watch "Grapes of Wrath," "Silas Marner," and "Reefer Madness". Tell your kid he's lucky to have a better selection! (No joke here, the Reefer Madness was in the "anti drug" class. They were serious! Half the class was on the floor in hysterics.)

I love the animals! When they are being nice that is. I especially like the wombat and squirrel.

(Incidentally, that does mean I must be totally innocent of any shenanigans involving duct tape, rutting wombats, shaving cream, and/or claymores (explosive or otherwise)...)

picture Seattle. . springtime 1971. Me in the basement mixing up the medicine according to a recipe on a tattered yellow page from a legal pad, boiling the water, mixing in the boric acid and stirring until it all melted and using a rolled newspaper as a funnel to pour it into a camper's canteen, slopping it on the flannel sides. . and later. . when it was cool, strapping it to my waist on a web belt with a Boy Scouts of America buckle. I had already sewed up all the pockets(so the police couldn't plant drugs on ya) on my jeans and tied the long sleeved shirt around my waist and inked the phone number of the communes lawyer to my forearm and headed out in my Frye Boots. . .to the demonstration, to get my fair share of abuse.
when they hit the main column marching down 4th Ave in the financial district past the Sea First building with the riot grade tear gas, it was billowing into the street and all of my action cell compatriots ran to me. . .soaking the their long sleeved shirts and bandannas in the boric acid solution. Then we bounded off, outracing the clouds and meeting up with others to soak their bandannas too.

We immediately cut up to Capitol Hill and several thousand strong converged on the Safeway Market Time and flooded into the market. . and looting! tossing out frozen turkeys and roasts through the shattered windows. . playing supermarket sweep with every shopping cart we could grab. . . and generally laying waste to the place.

We ate good that night up at Volunteer Park fire pits. . . because our houses were gone, you see, Safeway was our landlord, our commune houses were all on property to be renovated to build a new state of the art Safeway.. several on that one block were all being torn down, and there were bulldozers at the stoop and protesting people handcuffed to the roof. They they brought up the fire trucks and turned the huge hoses onto the people on the roof. . .blasting them off. . dangling by their handcuffs and screaming. . . the bulldozers moving in and ripping down the living room. .curtains flying, books scattered, loud noises and dust. . fire ladders up the side of the building and hack saws cutting through the handcuffs, people struggling and not allowing them to saw. . screaming, screaming we ran back to the still standing house down the street and I mixed up the boric acid solution it just happened to be the same day as a huge End the Vietnam War Rally and we took it to the streets. . .
