Instrument: I've had guitar lessons for five years, but I play like I've had lessons for five minutes.

Do you like sports? Very much. I mostly like to watch and discuss them, but I really want to try and play some more.

Clothing: Sports stuff (hats, jersey shirts, the rare 90's throwback jersey), although it seems I only wear my work polo and jeans all the time nowadays.

Hobbies and Interests:nothing makes me feel more alive than contemporary Christian music, i love to read teenage novels especially Christian based ones and also babysittersclub and anything similar from the 80s and 90s, im a big garfield fan and love to read his comics and watch the garfield and friends cartoons, i love to play pogo games online and the only thing i watch on tv is tvg and hrtv horse racing and i like to choose horse names i like and pretend to bet on them and root for them to win, most of all i love to read and study the Bible. i wish i can travel to beautiful fun places like hawaii and las vegas but i dont have the funds for that still i dream alot about it.

Why are you here? i believe i am definitly as Aspie, i have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, ocd, learning disabilities ,cognitive impairment at age 12 and at age 22 was diagnosed as schizophrenic which may have replaced the previous diagnossis of bipolar disorder though im not sure since my parents did all the disussing with the doctors at the time, i quit taking the medications in 2009 after suffering severe sickness from side effects, the withdrawel process was the worst nightmare of my life,i was speaking with a woman in pogo about my life and she told me of her son who had been diagnosed with mental illnesses also but then was found to have aspergers she said my symptoms and traits all sounded like his, i started to study it and i am without any doubt that even if i do have mental illness that i am most definitly an Aspie. I do not beleive in any type of psychiatric drugs nor do i believe in seeing psychiatrists after the way i was treated when i discussed all the painful physical side effects the drugs gave to me.

Year/Grade:graduated in 2001 , ( i had to repeat my senior year also i had repeated second grade so i was nearly 20 years old when i graduated high school)

Favorite music: Christian music all the way. pop, rap, soft rock, anything that is praising Jesus makes me feel more alive than anything on earth.

Books: the Bible, all Christian books, Christy miller and all similar teenage christian novels, babysittersclub and all similar teenage novels , garfield comics

TV shows/Movies: hard to sit thru movies but don bluth classics, little mermaid, disneys tarzan, annabelles wish, prince of egypt and carebearsmovie are always some favorites. all i can handle to watch on tv is horse racing on tvg and hrtv

Do you like sports? no, unless you count horse racing and bowling , i love those "sports"

Family:i stay with my mother and father who are both becoming more ill in their elderly years, they have both never been emotionally involved with me , and i feel a great loneliness that i dont have the closeknit compassionate family i am created to need. i dont have any other family who is in contact with me for many years.

Clothing: jeans and tshirts usually long sleeve ones when i leave the house because i have alot of tattoos that i hate and dont feel comfortable being in public and people asking me about them.

Job: im on disability for mental illness, i do not think i can handle the stress and anxiety of a job, but every week or so i keep thinking what job could i do that would be pleasurable to me and not involve me with people because i am totally not a people person.

Plans for the future? to hopefull be able to get my own very small mobile home or apartment and live independentaly for the first time.

Any comments? id love to make some friends who are kind and non judgemental who dont try to give advice but just want to share their heart with me and allow me to share mine with them. i cant stand to be lectured or told what i need to do with my life. i need a friend who accepts me just as i am.

Favorite subjects: See hobbies and interests. (My dream major would be Philosophy of science and Religions with an emphasis on Physics, a minor in Mathematics (theoretical) and a teacher's cert so I can actually become employed when or if I ever graduate.)

Year/Grade: Super + Senior (seriously. I have been going to college off and on since '92. I am a senior standing, but depending on if I switch majors or not, I will graduate between 44 hours and 4 years from now - assuming I can pass Calc II)

Favorite music: Most everything except rap and hip-hop.

Books: Don't like to read much, but when I do, it is usually sci-fi, comedy, or historical fiction.

Clothing: Pants I don't change very often. For shirts, I like to have the exact same cut with a color for each day of the week, but the older I get the more I try to bring in some variety so as not to draw attention. For a while I only wore Hanes t-shirts, and took great pride in the fact that my entire wardrobe fit inside one suitcase (not including my poofy winter coat).

Job: research technician... I have good technical skills and good ideas, but will probably struggle in an academic career since I really need someone to tell me what to do (i.e. I can have a good idea, but I won't actually do anything practical with it unless someone draws up a game plan and gives me an assignment)

Any comments? Interesting people on this site, I really hope some day I will actually know some people with AS in real life. I'm pretty lonely and deal with it by preoccupying myself with obsessions (and I'm content). But you know, while internet forums are a great way for people with a relatively rare condition to connect, it is especially fitting for people with AS who have a hard time with non-verbal communication and processing spoken information. I bet a lot of people with AS might prefer the internet chat room even if they are living next door to the person they are chatting with! Every good friend I've ever made has started with an online relationship through AIM.

Why are you here?-I work with 21 nurses including two supervisors, data entry/computer associates and a community cordinator for a national health program and after each day, I feel compleately isolated and different because of autism.People always come up to me and quip 'What are you saying? I do not understand where you are coming from" Its nice to go on a web site and LET GO by being oneself without being judged.
