Mustard has been our enemy from the begining. They recently surrendered, but I think they have a new leader preparing them for a new war. He has Mustard for hair, and his name is Mustardcloud.

CHRIST this is getting boring.

I thought I was good at killing threads but the current prevalence of garlic and mustard comments in totally unrelated discussion groups is getting reet on ma tets, as the Scots would say.

MelancholyBunny, welcome to WP. You have a cool name and sound interesting. Hopefully, in the fullness of time, you may chance upon someone else here who shares those character traits. :D

Thank you for the compliment. I hope you weren't talking about yourself in relation to your comments as while you have a good name (nice use of oxymoron) your comments weren't very nice.

Sorry, my patience is wearing a bit thin. The WP site is normally home to all sorts of inspired lunacy but for the past week everything has revolved around the garlic vs. mustard joke, and quite frankly there are limits as to how far a jokey obsession will stretch. You're only catching the tail end of it, trust me. It's been hell!

Between you and me I side with Werbert - mustard isn't as versatile as garlic, but Werbert makes me laugh and charisma is rapidly overtaking rationality as the key factor in UK politics, so he gets my vote. Oh, and he doesn't think that writing things in irritating code is clever, either, which is a plus point I feel. In terms of condiments I love anything hot or spicy - Dave's insanity sauce, worcester sauce, hot pepper sauce, madras paste, pickled onions.... all good. Proportional representation may be the way forward.

The user name isn't really a contradiction - well, no more than I am. I really like people - I love my friends, and I find strangers interesting - but I'm not always very good at communicating, and sometimes other people just stress me out, and I do need my own space, too. So sometimes I'm chatty and sometimes I'm not, hence sociable_hermit. I want to live on a narrowboat, and if my plan ever comes to fruition the boat will be the Nb. Sociable Hermit.

Yeah, I know.... clear as mud!

That's quite alright, repitition can be quite annoying and condiments aren't a vast source of humour, though they have their moments.
I must confess that i adore worcester sauce( i like trying to pronounce it to, though i never manage) but my favourite condiments is balsamic vinegar, i crave the stuff.
The fear that proportional representation, while more fair and accurate than the current electoral sytem, is far too complicated for the great unwashed.
Unfortunately we are subject to the fickleness of public opinion and will be for a long time.

Within the confines of WP, where achieving even a basic YES/NO decision is generally fraught with difficulty, proportional representation would basically amount to a re-establishment of individual free will, or in other words, a consensus to have no consensus. This would be fine by me!

In order to do that you would have to make sure that everyone understands the new system, and as people are having trouble with their rubbish collection thanks to recycling laws (good) local councils each have new rules(bad) on what can and can't be put in the bin which is causing mass confusion. Therefore how are they going to manage the reform of the elctoral system at a national level if they are having trouble with waste management at a local level.

Hey MB, hoping to get a discussion here soon. I wonder what the two churches would say if they found out I just ate some garlic with mustard on it?
