errrmmmmm.....

My right leg is an inch longer than my left leg.
I have "weird" outgrowing little toe nails that make me look a bit like a velociraptor (all my other finger/toe nails are normal though).
    I couldn't ride a bike 'til I was 9.
    I couldn't tie shoe laces 'til I was 11.
I used to be in a band with Rik Mayall's sister.

  • I was in the (US) national spelling bee several years ago.
  • I still cannot snap my fingers or whistle.
  • I could read at age 2.
  • I was writing simple BASIC programs before kindergarten.

  • I wanted (and got) a set of Legos (the "City Town" kind) for Christmas. At 13.
  • I just like music too much. I started collecting records seriously about 15 years ago ("records" as in vinyl, not CDs). Last I checked, I must have about 1000 LPs, running the whole gamut from Balinese chants to rock to jazz to classical.
  • I have an audiophile grade stereo that costs about the same as a souped-up Mac G5 - and that's economy class in high-end audio. I've seen gear that costs more than a Porsche Boxster. Insane. Too bad girls don't fall for tube amplifiers and single-ended triode preamps the way they do for a Porsche.
  • I have a basset hound. Susie's the name. I don't know why, but I always wanted one of these. Must have been those Hush Puppies posters. :D They are special, in their own way.
  • I majored with a BFA in Graphic Arts at the University of Costa Rica, with emphasis in art and design. Now I just "design" code at a software firm. So much for a "graphic arts" degree. At least it helps pay the bills.
  • Mom says I was reading aloud the city store signs at age 2.
  • Dad had a lot of old style encyclopedias. I guess I ended up reading them all.
  • Coffee: The stronger, the better. I can take a double espresso, even those high-caffeine energy drinks - but not more than neccesary.
  • I can't watch horror films. Why should I when I can get the same effect at work instead?
  • I am left handed too.
  • I have a knack for drawing cartoons. Today I have a bunch of loose material that I hope to materialize into a Peanuts-like comic strip someday.
  • I have an original, signed Charles M. Schulz "Peanuts" strip. He gifted it to me in exchange for a letter of appreciation and some sketches of mine, back in 1994. For me, Mr. Schulz was undoubtely one of the finest men to ever live in Earth.
  • I am a major fan of Don Bluth's animated films (Secret of NIMH, American Tail, All Dogs go to Heaven, etc). I wanted to become an animator myself when I was way younger. I have original cels (painted acetate sheets, used for films) and sketches of those films.
  • I had front row seats for the start of the worldwide blogging movement. This, kids, is where it all really started.
  • I cannot work well unless I am at near-meat-locker temperatures. Of course this sets endless fights with my work peers about the A/C control. Living in a tropical country is hell for me. Sometimes I wish I could move to Montreal or Finland.

Ebi, you want cold? You come up to PA some winter. We're getting close to a foot of snow tonight! Not exactly my mug 'o cocoa but it is nice to watch it fall.

I'm a vinyl collector too. I've lost count but I think I've got over 2000 albums - rock, jazz, classical, Christmas, polka (hey, I live in PA, gotta have polka) and cheezy cover versions of formerly good songs. The worse they are, the better I like 'em.

Cold? Don't talk to me about cold - its been about 1 degree centigrade here for a whole week now...... So cold...... Oh, other things I could mention:

I have no tolerance for cold at all, but can happily dress up like the Michelin Man in June.

I used to be a demon drawer as a kid, and used to sell my drawings to other kids at school (mainly super heroes and WWII fighter planes).

I don't know how to make bullets appear on this infernal list code.... grrrrrrr...

Heh. When you have that many records, it is almost unavoidable that you are going to have something like kiddie "read-alongs" alongside highly sought after Blue Notes and Deccas. But that's fine with me - I'm just like that too. I'm almost astonished how you get to know a lot about a person just by looking at his/her record collection.

merien_took: Thanks for the nice words, Susie sends lovely drool your way. :D

Its worth a try though matey - "Hey baby, how's about feeling my bass response and seeing my middle frequency" might just be the tonic.....

This was a tricky one, everytime I tried to think about it my mind went blank so I apologise in advance for the lameness of this list

I 'caught' a baby once when I was a student midwife- it was an amazing experience :)

Everytime my dinner is ready I always have to pee before I can eat

People leaving the toilet seat up annoys me so much than when a friend came to stay who kept doing it I put up a sign above the loo saying 'now please put down the seat'.

I love crafts- sewing, painting, making soap, bath stuff, etc- anything that means I am making something.

I cry buckets full at sad movies.

I have a soft spot for kitsch.

I used to have a worm circus when I was a kid.

I'm a huge, huge fan of the doors.

Ok that last one was a joke- since I'm sure everyone realises that by now

-As a young child I was convinced that I could build a rocket capable of taking me into space using only plywood and a car battery...I was very angry with my parents when they would not provide me with these materials

-The thought of foam rubber is enough to make me gag, as I have an intense irrational fear that I will get foam rubber in my mouth (uuugh I can almost feel it now)

-I am addicted to caffeine

-I smoke menthol cigarettes

-I often assign personalities to random objects in my appartment and then invent scenerios in my head in which they become friends, fall in love, or fight with one another. For example: right now my frozen pizzas are very angry with my frozen broccoli, they have been moved to oposite sides of my freezer and will not face each other.

- I am getting married this comming June

- I band that speaks most to me is The Cure

- I do not fold my socks, rather I move them from the dryer to my drawer in one big heap...hence I most often am wearing socks that do not match each other.

-I have seen every episode of The Simpsons that has ever been made, and believe that the show is sociopolitical comentary at it's finest.

 That's great! Honestly, I laughed out loud when I read that. I wish I could be so creative.

I think what makes me laugh most is I have both frozen pizzas and frozen broccoli in my freezer and now I'm concerned that they might get into a fistfight.

I would not worry too much about that. Frozen pizzas and frozen brocoli are both by nature very sensitive and docile. As such, they are prone to this type of drama. I assume that the disagreement is probably nothing more than a misunderstanding and some hurt feelings. They will probably make up soon and become friends again.

Why would you have to legally change your name if you're using one that's already legally yours?

My parents called me by my middle name originally but I didn't like it very much. When I was 13 I decided that I'd rather be called by my first name and realized I had the power to make it happen. When I went to school that September I had them change my registration so the teachers would use my first name at roll call. I've used that name ever since.

My father resisted for a long time, but eventually he got tired of phoning places looking for me and having them ask "who?"
