As I said, I have many interests... I can talk to almost anyone topic wise
The "Land Warrior" program is the protype soldier of the future the army is developing combing lightweight armor, computers, gps, and cameras among other things so that a future soldier can show commanders where he is and what he is seeing among other things.
Plastic tanks was a prototype lightweight tank program modeled on the Abrahms M1A1, I believe, where the plastic is supposed to be strong as steel but much lighter, I have not heard anything since the proto was demoed.
Spider Silk- an attempt by many researchers is being made to artificially reproduce spider silk (which is 5 times stronger than steel), for all sorts of military and civilian applications, like shirts that never wear out.
There is at least one prototype exoskeleton that gives there wearer the ability to lift another 40% of their weight or strength, I am not sure which.
There is new rifle be developed with grenade launching capability and a camera to see around corners (also tied to the Land Warrior system), I don't remember if they are actually developing smart bullets or just thinking about it.
And you must have heard of the autonomous vehicles as national news has given them atttention for their use in Iraq. It is any vehicle or craft that can be operated remotely or by its own programming (they have this kind on Mars).
If you don't know these what Tech are you keeping up with?

Hmm... That is interesting! I never heard about that, so thanks! Maybe in the no-so-far future, we'll have exoskeletons like the ones on Halo, with the energy shield and all. It's far-fetched, but posssible, if technology keeps on accelerating at the rate it is now...

It is hard to say which will take the deepest roots: bioengineering (enhanced humans: by genetic alteration before birth or during life), nanotech enhancements, tradtional cyborgs (robotic/computer features merged with organic parts), exoskeletons, new stimulants or drugs, or something else. I suspect there may be confrontation some decades or a century after bioengineering and cyborg/nanotech technology is in use between the two. In the end, the bioengineered will win, they will develop healing capability not possible with cyborgnanos (though they can too, but bios will be better and will not be subject to emps or programming viruses). I know this in part because of films depicting the strengths and weaknesses of the two. Ever see "Lifeform", one of Ryan Phillipes early if not first film. They could stop it. Terminator was tough, but it was stopped. Even the smarter version of Terminator, they bot from that android movie where the inventor dies and sends his bot out to kill all those who wronged him in life, he begins overcoming his weaknesses. What about "Supernova"? Granted he was stopped, but it took more than it did the cyborgs in the other movies, and if he had been smarter, or less power mad, or less psychotic, or less evil, he could have continued indefinitely. Cyborgs would eventually wear out, bios, if done to high enough degree, will never wear out.
Hello all fellow wizards, mages, sages, and spellcasters of any kind! Redwall has wizards too! don't think that animals can't also have special powers. Also read the redwall series. it rocks. But read them in this order, without the pro/epilogue.
Martin the Warrior
Mossflower
Legend of Luke
Mariel of Redwall
The Bellmaker
Salamandastron (whew, what a mouthful!)
Redwall
Mattimeo
The Long Patrol
Taggerung
Pearls of Lutra
Triss
Loamhedge
*inhales*
That was a lot. I think there might be some others, so if there are, read them. Now you will have a book to read until you are 20.
Goodbye, all fellow wizards, mages, sages, and spellcasters of any kind.
P.S. I can decipher runes, at least the ones in the Artimes Fowl series. Those books also rock!!
