Can you just block one? Thanks for the tip. I'll be OK.

I agree with this sentiment. Not about my own. I just look weird.

Well, you had me fooled. I always thought you were male. 8O

Oh, yeah, and Aridarr, I'm feeling very old right now, I'll need to Google that to have a frame of reference. I must say, it DOES sound like good times!

I linked "Johnny C." to the wikipedia article.

I haven't seen the Sweeney Todd movie, but I've seen the old broadway version on video a long time ago. Most people I know hate this horrible new thing, so the avatar just angers me. They cut way too much out. Some avatars that are just a pic seem sort of lazy to me, or annoying if I don't like the facial expression.

Just a google search for 'bad easter bunny.' I tend to have a holiday theme. Although after Easter there isn't a serious holiday for a while... I'll have to think.

AdAware on Mozilla browsers (Firefox/SeaMonkey/etc) - you can block any image whatsoever. There's also a "User Hide" script. See the FAQ.

They don't influence my opinion except I'll see something and think "oh cool they like final fantasy" or "that's freaky" or something of that sort.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of influence does my avatar have?

For some reason I think "Phantom of the Opera".

I don't wish to be a female, according to what North American society thinks that a female between 18 and 35 should dress, act, look and speak like.

Same here (BTW: this is a female Tux).

haha,
first off
female tux made me laugh.
then second the picture of the tux made me smile,
and after that
i saw the name, LostInEmulation and laughed.

3xcombo

genderroles are stupid.
u should be the person u are, and not care about what everybody else thinks, or wants you to be.

I think a person's avatar says a lot about a persons likes, thoughts, beliefs etc.. though it is hard to say what exactly.

I find it is good to have a visual aid to help us build an image of people.. when people dont have an avatar I feel like writing to them and saying "Where is your avatar? How am I supposed to know what sort of character you are?"

Yes, I think there is an influence, but I see it as a minor/trivial one (unless the avatar is offensive).

Yep, "Phantom of the Opera" represents me. I am an invisible phantom in the opera of the NT world. No one knows me or cares to know.

If you see an avatar that you think is offensive, please report it. They are against the WP rules.

I'm speaking on hypothetical terms here, admittedly. I haven't seen one to date on this forum but I'll report it if I ever do.

I look at avatars for recognition, I don't make judgment calls on the persons personality based on them. When I respond to someone's post, I respond to what they've said. Their avatar doesn't influence my response to them.

I never thought about my avatar having an influence on how people see or respond to my posts. Anybody see my nine tailed kitsune from Naruto as negative?
