Why are you here?
Because It is not often I see a social website for specifically those with social deficiencies like me. It'll be nice to meet with people like me, people who have difficulty talking with normal people. I certainly have the problem. :/

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder)
I was Diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when I was 12. My parents took me to a psychiatrist, ran some tests and discovered it pretty early on as compared to most.

Favorite subjects
I enjoyed History and Science. Though I actually did not enjoy learning it in school. I prefer educating myself. An Autodidact as it were.

Year/Grade
I dropped out of school when I was 17 due to various complications. Social and Personal.

Favorite music
I have a wide variety of music I listen to, Dubstep and Techno are the more frequent though I do like Alternative rock and Classical music as well. The music I tend to avoid is mainstream Rap and Country music.

Books
I was not a bookworm as a kid I was more of a internet nerd. I spent all my time parked in front of my computer playing games or just browsing the web. I really wished I got more into books because now I feel I have a lot to catch up on. What I have read I love to death such as a bit of the Dresden Files, Mass Effect and Dragon Age books as well. I want to read many other series, Ender's Game, The Wheel of time and Harry Potter are what I currently have on my to read list.

Plans for the future?
I am an aspiring writer. I am currently working on a novel series I've been thinking about since I was perhaps 10. I've wanted to be an Author since I was 8. I'm also working on a Comic Series with my friends. Along with many other ideas. My dream is for my novel to be something Akin to the Harry Potter Series or Wheel of time. Though I'd be happy with a fraction of that sort of recognition.

I consider myself an intellectual mixed in with an immature class clown. I love science, debate and skepticism as much as I love cracking a few stupid jokes with my friends. I can be incredibly goofy and strange at times. I tend to stammer and have trouble speaking coherently but I find this fuel for the hilarity with my friends. I laugh at my inability to speak like a proper person and I join in on my friend's jestful barbs about my speech. xD

Name: My name is Hazard. Yes, my parents were hippies. I was a flower child.

Age: I like to say I'm six, since I might as well be. I've been stuck on earth for twenty two years, though.

Location: I'm from Pluto. Or a certain western coast. Whichever.

Interests: Beauty, Art, basically all of what's on my profile. I also like um.. Rocks. Sparkly things. Intellectual conversation. Studying the physiology of sensory systems, you know, the usual.

Diagnosed: Which diagnosis? Manic Depression? Anxiety Disorder? OCD? Synesthesia? OH. You mean the "Autistic Psychopathy". I didn't actually even consider I had this until I met a kid at my college my sophomore year who had Aspergers. My freshman year I had dated a kid with Aspergers. He was weird, but I could relate to him. I thought nothing of it. Then, sophomore year, this really goofball sixteen year old enrolled in my college. I was like, "Who is this annoying kid. Why is he so weird. Why does he remind me of....me?" I started studying it more. Without me bringing it up to the school therapist, he suggested I might have this syndrome. So a trip to the psychologist when I was 21 confirmed it finally. Apparently I'm even more Neuroatypical than I knew. It's frustrating to know that all these things I grew up with feeling and experiencing had a reason behind them. I wish someone had caught on when I was a kid. Childhood sucked. Alas.

Favorite Subjects: In school? In high school I adored my honors English courses. I treat language terribly when I'm foolin' 'round, but in secret I'm more than a wee bit pedantic.

Grade: I'm in the sixteenth grade, woo! Working on my thesis, then I'll have a BFA.

Favorite music: Rock. All kinds. Particularly alternative. But really, all of it.

Books: Fantasy. All of it. Patricia A. McKillip is my favorite author, though. I really love the Song of Ice and Fire series, even though Martin's a sadist (Arya, Danny, Nymeria, Rhaegal, my poor babies). Clive Barker's Abarat always knocks me into a comfy chair. I'm also way too into children's and teenage fantasy. Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, Dragon Chronicles, Vampirates. P.S. Vampires sparkle. >3

Job: Parasite. I'm too much of a coward to even apply for jobs. It terrifies me. I really need help with this.

I found this site while reading the wiki site for aspergers. I've been thinking about telling my friends that I'm diagnosed, and I wanted to know what sort of information they'd be reading and assuming about me.

When did you discover AS? When my teenage son was recently evaluated for Asperger's, I had all the same answers to the evaluator's questions that my son did. Son placed well into the Autism spectrum. I later read up more about it and  learned what it was. I found the Aspie Quiz and scored 132 and son scored 140.

Favorite music, other than NIN?   I like classical especially Russian composers, Big Band jazz, lots of international music, rock music.  I greatly dislike rap, grunge, pop, and country.

Plans for the future? Starting to think about retirement. But with a teenager just starting high school, I'm afraid retirement is still a number of years away. I'll be working as long as I have a place to work. After that, my arboretum will get my full attention.

Anything else you feel is pertinent: I've always known that I was different from most kids I grew up with. I was the "Math Brain" through school but I had no idea how to date girls.  I was 21 before met a girl who would date me twice and I ended up marrying her. Social situations have been (and still are) confusing and anxiety filled. Crowds and loud noise put me on edge. I've been to 3 rock concerts over the years and though I loved the music, I hated the concerts.

One of my real stress points is my inability to converse in noisy environments, like bars and parties. It seems like my mind won't lock onto a single conversation and tries to follow and analyze everything. I get quickly overloaded and the single thought "MUST! LEAVE! NOW!" starts dominating. Even at age 60, after uncountable attempts at socializing, the same thing happens every time. I can control the anxiety better now than I could as a kid. Alcohol only makes the feelings worse, so I avoid drinking more than one beer a day.

I am mystified by community websites like these and one for Aspies is doubly mystifying. I find it extremely difficult to write up entries. It takes me a long time to compose a sentence. This entry has taken me days. I just can't imagine  being able to do more than a few entries a month, much less a week or a day.
Why does it take so long for me? Mostly because my mind is moving far, far faster than my fingers can type. (Speaking is the same problem.) I'll have a train of thought and I'll start typing, then the idea will branch into a dozen others, then a dozen others, all before I've finished writing down the first thought. Plus I makes lots of errors. The back-space key is the most used key on the board. Because I make lots of errors, I always need to go back and fix the ones I missed the first time through. When I do finally finish a sentence, I've forgotten many of the subsequent ideas I came up with and have to start all over again.

And I really, really, really hate situation comedies. I will leave the room if someone turns one on. They do not make me laugh. They make me cringe.
