What is your first name? Bec

Age: 22

Location: UK

Hobbies and Interests: Music, collecting CDs, reading, animals, linguistics.

Why are you here? I am seeing a psychiatrist soon to see if s/he thinks I can be referred for a diagnosis. My doctor seems to think I have many problems, and I guess I'd agree. I'm not entirely sure what to think, but whenever I read descriptions on the difficulties people with as seem to face, I feel I can relate completely.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):

Favorite subjects: Language and history (I love learning facts and analysing texts!)

Year/Grade: Well, I'm a graduate student. Currently trying to decide what postgraduate courses I'd like to take...

Favorite music: I really enjoy electronic, pop, and rock genres.

Books: I love the Hannibal series.

TV shows/Movies: The Ricky Gervais Show and An Idiot Abroad. As for movies, well, I really enjoy horror movies. Thriller and action movies are great, too.

Do you like sports? Not one bit. Awful co-ordination, and I'm forever tripping over. Don't really enjoy watching sports, either. I hate being around others who'll yell and cheer around me, and even watching on TV can be too noisy and chaotic at times.

Family: I'm not really close to most of my family, but I live with my parents and my cat, and we get along well.

Clothing: I love wearing my comfy clothes. Usually just wear t-shirts and hoodies, with jeans.

How did you find this website? Google.

Job: I haven't managed to find a new job yet, but I'm hoping to get one soon. I've applied to so many places, but I think I need to stop looking for the same jobs and try new areas maybe. I just don't know if I'd cope, but then again, it's a job. It's lucky I have my savings and my parents are not giving me a hard time about this. They understand I'm trying and that I'll be attending university again this year, anyway.

Plans for the future? Obtain a master's degree, and perhaps a PhD, and then find a job that I'll enjoy. That's about it, really.

Any comments? Well, I'm just new. This is my first post, and I hope I've filled this out okay.

What is your first name? Milica

Age: 25

Location: Serbia, SE Europe

Hobbies and Interests: Anthropology, philosophy, science. Reading, writing, learning, listening to music, puzzle solving, long walks, long discussions... My other interests/hobbies change pretty often; lately I've been programming (a bit), learning Persian language & cooking. Oh, and playing Pro Evolution Soccer with my brother :)

Why are you here? A week ago I took a test that showed I was very likely an Aspie. Then I read everything I could find on AS, especially people's personal experiences, and suddenly everything started to make sense. I was no longer an alien... I'm here to understand, to learn and share thoughts & experiences with people from the same planet.

When were you diagnosed? Self-diagnosed on 17.3.2012 (a week ago), still thinking about going to get an "expert" diagnosis (not sure if I can even get one in my country, especially being 25, and woman). And I'm not sure if I need it... or want it. How can anyone else know better than myself how it is inside of me?

Favorite subjects: Used to be math while I was in elementary school, but later I got more interested in social sciences & literature.

Year/Grade: 4th (and final) year of Anthropology studies. Planning to take up MA studies (in the same field) in October.

Favorite music: Indie rock, post-rock, instrumental rock, post-punk, classical, jazz, ambient, progressive rock, trip-hop, and some electronic & experimental music, including noises (like recordings from NASA's Voyager)

Books: Non-fiction, children's literature, horror & classics like Dostoyevsky (my favorite author).

TV shows/Movies: Documentaries & horror. I don't watch TV series, but enjoyed The X Files and Sherlock Holmes (with Jeremy Brett) as a child.

Instrument: Learning to play guitar.

Do you like sports? I like race walking & running, but am not really a sportsperson. I also enjoy watching football (soccer) games when my favorite club - Liverpool FC - are playing.

Family: Mom, Dad, younger brother (24) and sister (20), a cat & two dogs.

Clothing: Comfortable. Old clothes, those that have been washed numerous times. Also second-hand, like my Mom's old stuff, that she wore when she was my age.

How did you find this website? I found it while looking for more information on AS.

Job: I don't have a job. Don't know if I even want one, unless I can work with a very flexible work schedule, from home... I'd like to work as an anthropologist though, doing fieldwork and stuff.

Plans for the future? I'm not good at planning... There are many things I'd like to do, but those are dreams, rather than plans.

Any comments? I hope you don't mind the length of my answers. Sometimes I just can't stop writing.
Looking forward to talking to you. Greetings.

What is your first name? Paula

Age: Seventeen, as of now.

Location: Southeastern United States

Hobbies and Interests: Literature, music, art, people, psychology, philosophy, learning, reading, and many other activities along the lines of the former.

Why are you here? This forum is fascinating to me. I thoroughly enjoy reading the various theories about autism, the human mind, relationships, and the plethora of other theories that the members derive at. It felt a bit rude of me to read into the personal lives of these people like reading the lives of characters in a book, so I decided to join the website in hopes of perhaps contributing something to the body of people that has brought me so much amusement and understanding.

Favorite subjects: I have always excelled at and enjoyed anything dealing with literature; English was always a strong subject, as well as Creative Writing. I also enjoy music classes (Four years of band, two years of choir), Spanish, history, and anything that does not require me to perform a large amount of mathematical computations.

Favorite music: Any and every kind, really, barring overly-synthesized "techno/Dubsteb" that is so popular today.

Books: I can read virtually anything and find enjoyment in it, though I adore poetry (especially that of Shakespeare and Emily Dickson--cliche, I'm aware, but they're famous for a reason) and the works of Scot Westerfield.

TV shows/Movies: I am not largely into movies or television.

Instrument: Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Piano/Keyboard, Vocals

Do you like sports? Spectating? I enjoy watching martial arts, figure skating, dancing, and fencing; Performing? I have very little kinetic ability and thus do not usually partake in such activities, though I took dance and figure skating throughout my early childhood and still figure skate regularly enough for me to consider myself to be an amateur figure skater (I do not take lessons anymore; I do, however, learn a few tatics on my own here and there). Is chess considered a sport? If so, then I do participate semi-regularly in this sport (even though the skill is definitely lacking).

Family: Scattered, slightly dysfunctional, yet the best family I could have ever asked for. :0

Clothing: Protective fabric that I wear to shelter myself from the outside environment. Save for a few sentimental pieces of clothing, it is not too much more complicated than that for me.

How did you find this website? This wonderful site comes up fairly easily with any Google search of the words "autism" and "Aspergers".

Job: Poet, Writer, Student, And A Bit Of A Polymath.

Plans for the future? I shall comment on this at a later time; basically, however, it involves creating as much art (literary, drawings, and musical) as I possibly can and making as much as a positive difference on the world and universe we live in as possible.

Any comments? Salutations, my fellow universe dwellers. :)
