hello Hartz, good to see you there.

yeah, it's not the cold that changes the leaves, it is the fading of the light. the further north, the faster the fade. . and Lemon, should be getting lovely autumn leaves too...she can certainly use those colors in her palette

It should start getting spring with our friends in Australia, too. I have thought about that often. How the Celtic religion fits so well in the temperate zones, the wheel of the seasons. When I lived in the tropics, the seasons are 18 month cycle and that whole Celtic round just dissolves . . .

Hi, Hartz! I'm sorry to hear that you are having med problems again. Treating chronic pain is so hard, and there seems to be so little out there that isn't addictive or hard on a person.

I had to start taking my pain meds again today. The Crohn's flares up every fall and is quite painful, almost as bad a childbirth. I was at work and took my usual pain meds that take away most of the pain but not all of it. They don't affect me any other way at all normally. But today I was higher than a kite. I had the customers laughing and smiling because apparently a high Blessedmom is a humorous, chatty Blessedmom.

Hah that's funny. The customers didn't know it was your meds, huh? There's some comic relief out there, after all. Crohn's is awful - I was reading about it. I also looked up my own meds, and realized that it is messing with my breathing at night, not to mention giving me major insomnia. I'm going to move my next doctor's appointment up a week so I can tell him about this.

Hi, Merle, good to see you to! :) One thing that I miss about leaving the northeast, is the fall display. I don't mind saying that this place sucks, as far as autumn foliage is concerned. It doesn't seem normal or right to have it so hot all the time.

Hope I haven't driven everyone away! :) Guess I'll try to get some sleep. It's nearly 3:00 am here.

I think we just wanted to save the party for the page not to be mentioned for the regular week so everyone could join in.

For those who are tired of seeing their favorite bookstores being gobbled up by Memoirs, Autobiographies,
and other self-aggrandizing tell-all nonsense, check this out:

Quote:
From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. Clarke's fourth book (after the story collection Carrying the Torch) is the delightfully dark story of Sam Pulsifer, the accidental arsonist and murderer narrator who leads readers through a multilayered, flame-filled adventure about literature, lies, love and life. Growing up in Amherst, Mass., with an editor for a father and an English teacher for a mother, Sam was fed endless stories that fueled (literally and figuratively) the rest of his life. Thus, the blurred boundaries between fact and fiction, story and reality become the landscape for amusing and provocative adventures that begin when, at age 18, Sam accidentally torches the Emily Dickinson Homestead, killing two people. After serving 10 years, Sam tries to distance himself from his past through college, employment, marriage and fatherhood, but he eventually winds up back in his parents' home, separated from his wife and jobless. When more literary landmarks go up in flames, Sam is the likely suspect, and his determination to find the actual arsonist uncovers family secrets and more than a bit about human nature. Sam is equal parts fall guy and tour guide in this bighearted and wily jolt to the American literary legacy. (Sept.)

I'm sure that they didn't know, Blessedmom. At least it helped you give a good job performance. :)
