27
Location:
Somewhere below the 45th parallel in Minnesota. Changes every year or so.
Hobbies and Interests:
Magic: the Gathering, non-traditional spiritualism, road trips to nowhere in particular, maps & weather.
Why are you here?
Wikipedia pointed me here. Other than that, I just feel the need to find more people like myself.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
2006, I think, by my mom who saw an article in the newspaper and found that it fit me perfectly. My best friends, who I never felt I needed to tell, stumbled upon a similar article a couple of years ago and connected the dots pretty easily.
Favorite subjects:
B.S. in Meteorology, B.S. in Mathematics, Certificate in Geographical Information Sciences
Year/Grade:
One of the few things I don't want to count. Besides, I'm always learning.
Favorite music:
Currently, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, and a few leftover songs from a previously intense interest in certain Japanese music. Also, Bob Dylan for personal reasons. The music from Donkey Kong Country 2 pretty much codified my musical interests when I was young.
Books:
Into the Wild is my favorite book, then Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and a modest collection of travel narratives. I read a lot of Redwall when I was younger. I like anything involving a journey, especially if it's to someplace very remote.
TV shows/Movies:
I don't watch much. I grew up on The Simpson's, like nearly everyone from my generation did. However, if I could choose one show to watch the rest of my life, it's Futurama and it's not even close. I'll watch anything my friends are watching, with the exception of horror.
Instrument:
Played clarinet, wish I could play the piano.
Do you like sports?
Playing, no. Watching, not really. Catching up on sports highlights and taking in the fanatic spectacle, sure. Fantasy football is the big exception, as I loved it last year and I would be shocked if there wasn't a devoted community here.
Family:
One younger sister, hardworking, successful, we have a good relationship though I'm confident that she sees me as a bum. Not that I've done much recently to prove otherwise. My mom suspects my dad has Asperger's as well, and you can imagine how suffocating that was as a child. My parents are very good, we get along. It's just that my dad wasn't that great at being a dad, and not for lack of effort or love, but lack of skill.
Clothing:
Rarely do I wear logos or slogans. I like plaid.
How did you find this website?
Wikipedia.
Job:
Menial, boring, I'm over-qualified save for my behavior. Nevertheless, I don't mind coming to work, and I never have to deal with customers.
Plans for the future?
Throwing spaghetti at walls, hoping that something sticks.
Any comments?
I'll say right off that I can be pretty xenophobic and judgmental. In my life, beggars can't be choosers, so I'm happy to find a new friend, it's just I don't think I "click" with very many people. As the years have passed, I've gotten less and less tolerant of mainstream culture which has alienated me even more, but I'm okay with that. I have to be "true to myself" and that's why I'm making these comments. My version of the Golden Rule is "don't be a jerk" (or something more vulgar to that effect) which I try to live my life by. I guess what I'm trying to find here is more people who might "click" with me and would be able to give me more empirical and experiential evidence that I wouldn't be happier just becoming a fur trapper in Alaska or something.

Books: I don't read too often but I like Fantasy/Sci-Fi or at times prefer Biographies or Non-fiction.
TV shows/Movies: Far too many to list! I usually prefer TV Series though as they often have characters that grow on you
and you experience more of the universe in which they take place, over the 2 hour average of most movies.

Family: Well apart from a Mum and Dad, I've one Sister, a step sister, a half brother and two step brothers. We often call each other Brother/Sister however. My Dad has AS (undiagnosed, but I guarantee he has I'd stake my life on it.) as my sister (same dad and mum) has AS too but hers is mild (she too was diagnosed by Dr. Tony Attwood).
Clothing: I love fashion, I often sport dated clothing though, often of the 1930's which in my opinion is some of the best attires man has created.
How did you find this website? Finding information on AS.
Job: I tried my hand at many jobs over the years I have done Security for roughly 7 years however I wish to go into the Medical sector, as most of my family are Nurses or other positions in health.
Plans for the future? I've traveled a little done quite a few different jobs over the years and I feel it's time to get stuck into a Career so these next 10 years I hope to maybe push all the way to the top go to Medical School and perhaps be a Doctor. I really like the look of Pathology and Cytology looks interesting.
Any comments? Well apart from the goals for the next 10 years, I think just to enjoy life, keep positive and live life to the fullest! You've only got one life, better make the most of it, doing what you love!
