I really needed to smile this morning and this did it. I forgot about it when you were all talking about kilts. (disclaimer : randy humour)

Too freaky. I just bought that book for my granddaughter's 17th birthday. Saw Mr.Weisman being interviewed and liked him immediately. Yes, my granddaughter is an avid environmentalist and will be pursuing her interests in college next year. She'll get wherever she goes on a soccer scholarship. She's good. That's where I was most of yesterday, watching her game and then an hour and a half drive to another county to watch another younger granddaughter play, followed by a grandson's football game. All in the scorching heat with people yelling and little bitty cheerleaders doing their best to look and cheer like the big girls. It was Aspie Hell.

Believe me, Darling, I was thinking of you the entire day, saying "How in the hell does she do this?" My daughter in law is so much like you - I love her by the way. She's got four kids all into sports and other lessons and she lives in a somewhat remote area and teaches at a pre-school and her life is just like wham - wham- wham, all day long.

Thanks for the hug. I needed that. :)

CC, For right now I do it because I love them. In a few years when they are older and independent I am going to spend my days in quiet contemplation and relative solitude. I will have my dogs, my hobbies and my music. I will of course be there for them when I am needed but it is getting so it is harder and harder to deal with the everyday craziness and noise. I want to spend much of my time in the mountains with few people.

you do realize that they're going to move back in and live in the basement (or the garage, whichever is applicable)?

Well, when not hearing the music,
but only seeing the videos, I gotta say...

You're right.

 They can live in the shed out back. Luckily, they are getting quieter as they get older and the noisiest one will hopefully be playing soccer on the National Team in Toronto. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

Yeah the quiet part ain't gonna' happen. Soccerdude's coach has had 3 scouts out watching him and 2 other boys, so the National Team is not a far-off dream for him. It is within his reach as long as he doesn't get side-tracked and lose that knee of his. He would go when he is 16 (and Mom will have a freakin' ulcer within a month!!)

well, if that's what he truly loves to do, more power to him. hope he makes it. and i do hope that knee holds out. it's sad to see folks who really get into something like that and then blow out a knee (or an arm or whatever) and have to stop without a backup to keep them flying. :(

i suspect you're gonna get an ulcer in 20 years, and 30, no matter what. a kid's a kid, and i haven't seen how anyone who's really attached to one can just cut them off and not worry as much as they did when the kid was in diapers.  ever. i think some folks just fake it better than others.

My in-laws have done that. They never talk to their children unless it is an event like I told you about. The kids are on there own in every sense of the word and have been since they graduated high school. My kids are more than welcome to call and visit whenever and I will always help them. They'll just have to drive uphill!!

Chuck did it. Got me pulled into the clutches of Youtube and shot half my day. From Port Isaac fisherman to Fairport Convention. Worth the lost time. Who knows where the time goes anyway.
