I like to wear T-shirts, tank tops, skinny jeans, sneakers, shorts, short skirts (but not too short), dresses that go up to my knees at most, and I love tops and dresses that are strapless, I also like high heels
My social group mentioned it
Sad to say I do not have a job at the moment (good thing I still live with my parents, otherwise I would have been a jobless deadbeat like my brother was for a while)
I plan on getting to Japan after I graduate high school (I have relatives there and graduation is a big deal for them), go to college for 2-4 years and become and author and maybe even do some other cool things involving computers
I'm happy to make conversation with anyone who feels comfortable to talk to me! I'll try my best to approach others as well.

What is your first name? Drew

Age: 22

Location: TX

Hobbies and Interests: Gamer, sports fan (especially basketball), personality-related stuff, basic psychology's sort of a hobby of mine... not an aspie hobby, just a regular hobby, if that makes any sense at all.

Why are you here? Well I was diagnosed at age 4 but didn't learn about it until age 14, when I found out from my parents, who also went ahead and told my siblings and a few friends and extended family, before they even told me. Great, huh? I love them, but I will never forgive them for that.

Anyway, I'm here for most of the time I've known I've just denied it and for long stretches would completely forget about it. But things are getting ridiculous in my life lately. Horrible mood swings (mostly down), have lost all urge to leave the house and be around people (not like I had much anyway), spells of self-doubt and self-hatred and just generally not knowing what the f**k is going on or how to handle it. So I figured it was time to maybe be proactive about this.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): 4

Favorite subjects: None. School's a necessary evil.

Year/Grade: I've completed six semesters at two different places and I'm on my second major.

Favorite music: metal, ambient (big fan of the Halo soundtracks)

Books: Non-fiction

TV shows/Movies: Two and a Half Men, back when Charlie was still on. I relate to his character, I think he's similar to what I would be if I wasn't a f*****g weirdo and was fleshed out to my potential. Also enjoy Law & Order/spinoffs and Burn Notice.

Instrument: None, have thought about taking up guitar.

Do you like sports? Yeah, it's kind of my refuge.

Family: I have one.

Clothing: Optional.

How did you find this website? google/wikipedia

Job: :)

Plans for the future? Recently moved here, but given how depressing my time in TX has been I might be on the move again fairly soon.

Any comments? Insecurity aside, I think I'm a bit more 'normal' than a lot of aspies (I'm sorry if that's insulting to anyone). In some ways at least. The 'trainspotting' behavior seems to have given way with age, as a kid I did a lot of the collecting and pattern stuff. Now just about all I do in that regard is make the occasional pointless list, sometimes repeatedly. Some personality traits that seem to be uniform among most aspies don't describe me at all, at least anymore. I used to drone on and on and on but due to the criticism I would get I'm now practically hypersensitive to the possibly of me rambling and boring people, often thinking they are when they insist they aren't. Socially I'm a train wreck though. Haven't had any real friends since high school, haven't really tried either because for the life of me I can't initiate or keep anything going. I also rarely keep in touch with people, because I always feel I'm bothering or inconveniencing them if I give them a call. Every friend I've ever made has been an accident. No steady girlfriend since early high school... and it's probably for the best, I get way too attached (and, when single, extremely limerant toward the most random women that I rarely end up actually talking to, this drives me crazier than anything), and when I give space I'm paranoid that I'm being cheated on. No girl needs to put up with my BS.

And yes, this was a venting post. If anyone has any input, fire.

Any comments?
I'm gonna ramble here. . . . I think I have became more aware of my autism lately, and with stress my differences become more noticeable to me. Coming to the realization that I am not like others does wonders on my self-esteem. I've always thought I was so much more high functioning than others with autism, but now that that bias is gone I realize that I have my issues like everyone else. Now I may even have a bias toward thinking that EVERYTHING I do is related to my autism! Is that true? I really don't know, and this problem extends into my mental health too.

So I'm autistic; big woop! I'm still me, right? Never seemed to have a problem with that before, so why dwell on it.

What is your first name? Jean-Guy (It is French, so it is pronounced "Jah Ghee"

Age: 70

Location: Laval (near Montréal) Canada

Hobbies and Interests: Physics, Psychosociology, philosophy, helping people (often free : I have a penchant towards poor people) as a psychotherapist, aviation, and Polynesian culture and languages.

Why are you here? I am Aspie

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I was diagnosed 2 years ago (2011). And I don't think it is a disorder, but a difference. For me, not being a NT on this planet is like being a negro in USA, or being a white man on Earth (which has a majority of Asians).

Favorite subjects: In-depth (one-to-one, soul to soul) communication, Truth, social justice (or lack of)

Year/Grade: Fellowship in physics ; post-PhD in psychology

Favorite music: Classic (baroque, classical and romantic eras), Polynesian, folklore and "chansonniers" from most countries, electronic music (well-structured like that of Kitaro)

Books: Quantum and relativistic physics, health foods (juices and smoothies), cartoons / comic strips (mostly Belgian)

TV shows/Movies: "The pianist" (Roman Polansky) ; "Le bal des vampires" (also from Polansky) ; "Casablanca" (Michael Curtis, with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman) ; "The pink panther" either with Inspecteur Clouseau (Peter Sellers) or in cartoons (Blake Edwards and Henri Mancini) ; TED conferences (on Youtube) ; videos on aviation ; Discovery channel.

Instrument: most keyboards, but my favorites are acoustic piano and pipe organ

Do you like sports? Not really. In fact, I am not really conscious that I have a body, you see? In fact, the "sport" I like best is natation (swimming) : just floating, weightless like if I was a spirit...

Family: Parents and sisters dead, children gone...

Clothing: Keep it simple and functional. On women, I like really beautiful (but still simple) clothing. But I HATE (really) anything flashy, "m'as-tu-vu?", anything made primarily for the look or trying to be different. I don't like jewels except on some occasions, and they must be discrete and humble, never flashy (I prefer a plastic band across the hair of a peasant girl to a large diamond in the necklace of a chic lady).

How did you find this website? I wrote "Asperger" on Google

Job: part-time researcher at l'Université du Québec à Montréal, part-time retired.
Plans for the future? Yeah! Sure! Of course : I am preparing for a looong carrier! Image Image
Jokes aside, in my research on DAO (Dynamics of Abuse and Oppression) I found many vectors of propagation (or contagion) of this severe emotional and social disorder, and I would really like to share it with trustable and competent people instead of bringing it all uselessly into my tomb.

Any comments? Launching this quiz was a good idea!

What is your first name? Yes, it's Randy

Age: 48

Location: Ohio, USA

Hobbies and Interests: Scale modeling, aircraft mostly. It's a quiet, solitary hobby, in which a little obsessiveness pays off.

Why are you here? To meet the like-minded, and perhaps to gain understanding of my son, who is also autistic and quite different from me.

When were you diagnosed? Doing research on the subject a few years ago, I realized that, yes, my son has ASD . . . and holy smoke, so do I. The diagnosis didn't exist forty years ago when I really needed some help - people told me I was "just shy" and would grow out of it, which somehow did not help me make eye contact or talk to people. I have no need of an "official" diagnosis at this time.

Favorite subjects: In school? History, English, several foreign languages

Favorite music: Classical from Baroque to Romantic, jazz, electric blues, blues-based rock from the Rolling Stones to the Black Keys

Books: Mark Twain, Patrick O'Brian, Peanuts, history especially military history

TV shows/Movies: Star Trek TOS and TNG, Perry Mason, 24, Burn Notice, Casablanca, Diva, The Godfather

Do you like sports? Playing - no, I'm a stereotypical asperklutz, can't catch a thrown ball to save my life. Watching - all kinds of motorsports.

Family: Marvelous wife, 8-year-old autistic son, 1-year-old daughter

Clothing: Really? Jeans and t-shirts

How did you find this website? Linked from somewhere or other

Job: Have been many things including a Navy cryptologist. Currently a stay-at-home dad to aforementioned children.

Plans for the future? I'm not sure what I'll do when our daughter is in school. There are things I want to write but I have no illusions about being able to earn a living that way.

Any comments? I have been a convinced Objectivist for about thirty years now. It works for me both as a guide for living and as a lens through which to look at the world, and after decades of watching many attempts, I've concluded that its central tenets are irrefutable. I do not enjoy arguments and have zero interest in debating the subject, but I will try to answer honest questions.

The Marseillaise scene makes me cry like a baby. Every single time.

Objectivism is the philosophy of Ayn Rand. It teaches that reality is real, that reason and the senses are our only means of gaining knowledge, that your life belongs to you and the good is to live it, that all transactions among adults should be voluntary. And much more. You can find much more online, along with tons of anti-Objectivist smearing. But I can't post links yet, so . . .

Personally I also like the Marseillaise scene. I also like, at the very end, after the departure of the plane, the obvious complicity between the two friends (Rick (Humphrey Bogart) and Renault (Claude Rains) who managed to put Lazlo (Paul Henreid) and Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) aboard the plane. I also found heroic the dialogues between Rick and Ilsa, the impossible love that will push them to live very high moral values. And who can not notice the outstanding talent of many great actors : Bogart, Bergman, Veidt (the German leader : the role of a bad guy but played with remarkable talent), Madeleine Lebeau (Yvonne), to name only them. And who can remain impassible seeing the irresistible beauty of Ingrid Bergman, so serious yet so loving...? Definitively a chef-d'oeuvre of the cinema!

Thanks for your definition of objectivism. I was afraid it meant an attitude of objection. So, in other words, it is (among other things) the contrary of solipsism. On this point, I agree 100%. However, I disagree with Ayn Rand's proposal of giving total freedom to capitalism. Many authors (among them Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel price in economy) insist that this is a very dangerous approach, leading to non-ethical transaction and the formation of bubbles (like the real-estate bubble that lead Fanny-Mae and Freddy-Mac (and the United States) almost to bankruptcy. About rationality and cognition, I agree with Rand's premisses, but I don't want to exclude ALL subjective phenomenae from the cognitive process.

By the way, is there a correlation between your unconditional adherence to Rand's philosophy and your pseudo?
