I haven't seen any raccoons on the trail or nearby.... But I see lots of groundhogs, chipmunks, and snakes.
Farther down on the Maryland side one can see beavers and their dams in the Gunpowder River. And remember don't
pet the copperheads, they are nasty!

I just got home from work a while ago and I did't see any lights, I see them all the time and they were one of the big reasons I came to Alaska the first time back in 1990.(I did't want to die saying.."Gee, I wish I would have....I'd seen them in my World Book Encyclopedia when I was 6 and made a list of everything I had to see before I died.) Now I'm "jaded" but they are still beautiful. I used to drive from Fairbanks to Wasilla once a week (about 300 miles) in the winter and would leave at midnight. The lights would be dancing and there was no light pollution, stars shining brightly, just indescribable! Something everyone should see once. The red ones are best, I have some really GREAT pictures of them. If I could ever figure out how to put pictures on here I'd show you.
hartzofspace when were you at Ft. Ben Harrison, I also did AIT there after leaving Tank Hill at Ft. Jackson. Only my MOS was "Physical Activites Spec.(There was only 400 and something of us in the whole Army,) all the people who were going to get tossed out for being overweight, I got them for 12 weeks first and Rank no longer mattered...they were MINE. GRUELING PT...ran 12 miles a day, swam 1 mile a day and lifted weights for 3 hours a day. They hated me. :D None of mine EVER got out for weight.
Wow, I wrote alot, sorry so long.

I enlisted in 1977, but wasn't in long. So I think I headed out to Ft. Ben Harrison in early 1978.

Oh no! I'm all absorbed in army stories and the auroras and the thread stops. Stops.

Sometimes being in the cafe is like sitting around a campfire yarning. When I hear the voices of PP and now Reika reminicsing ( err remembering ..where is Deacon Blues when you need him!) everything seems to slow down

reminisce

My guess is that it was the Nan Blessed Chuck show that did it!

Thanks for the video, Chuck. It was surreal!

You do know I keep a running tab of threads I've killed. I use The Wife's nail polish to paint little marks on the side of my monitor. I haven't added any in a long time, I'm getting thread killers withdrawal, it's not a pleasant cold turkey. I don't know what she did with the nail polish but it isn't were I left it. She's like that, always screwing with my mind. I have a plan, going to empty it out when I find it and replace it with fruit juice and white paste. She won't have a clue why she's chewing on her finger nails. Ah revenge, tis so sweet. She probably regress to 1st grade

I'm alooene, allllllalooooooen

We have all sorts of births in this cafe; books, magazines. communes. I'm gestating now. It's a movie, a world beater, a winner of acadamy awards...

Nannarob tries to cover her notes so that noone can steal her incredible idea. She whispers..

Finding the actors to play your roles will be difficult. I don't watch many movies and no tv unless I'm socialising with my husband. Now let me think. Definately Sean Connery. NOT Nicole Kidman's ex. Some action stars with heart. Help me here, people.

For the women we need beautiful long haired slim actors... not too many blondes.

Now we could produce a Northern Exposure type theme or ...

Nannarob slumps into her chair, looking to the stars in search of Chuck ... Outside frogs croak as the humidity thickens.

I'm alooene, allllllalooooooen

Now as an off shoot we can have the goon show. The Noog Show. The characters for this show easily spring to mind!

OMG Reika, I was going to lose weight before I made my overseas visit. Just the thought of seeing Chuck was enough to make me think about it. But I tremble when I think what you would do ...

Now to play Reika we need a ..the name just fell out of my head. Ahh ... a young Jane Fonda!
