In order to do that you would have to make sure that everyone understands the new system, and as people are having trouble with their rubbish collection thanks to recycling laws (good) local councils each have new rules(bad) on what can and can't be put in the bin which is causing mass confusion. Therefore how are they going to manage the reform of the elctoral system at a national level if they are having trouble with waste management at a local level.

Ah, you're taking me literally. I was suggesting PR purely within WP, or more specifically within the sphere of condiment-based religions.

However, since you've raised the subject, PR isn't confusing. You vote for who you want to win, same as before. The only difference is that the total number of MPs is in direct proportion to the % share of votes of the different parties across the UK. It does NOT necessarily mean that there would be more contradictory legislation: the House of Commons would still have to reach a majority decision and would therefore be unlikely to contradict itself. Well, no more than usual, anyway.

My point is that in order to ensure the success of proportional representation you must first ensure that everyone understands the new system. On another point, people tend to be on the whole adverse to change, no matter how much they may benefit.

"Vote for who you want to win" isn't much of a change, though, is it? In fact, it removes the concept of "tactical voting", thus simplifying the system. I know what you mean about resistance to change, though.

Welcome MelancholyBunny!

I'm also from Scotland, and live near Edinburgh.

I only buy my garlic from Sainsbury's.

Have you had any success tracking down and killing the Mustard Bunnies?
