The thing that I wonder about is: Why do I remember (recognize) people who don't remember me? I mean absolutely noting to Peggy and she means absolutely nothing to me. She had unique eyes and a unique and subtle smile. We were never pals. She was in my third grade class in 1950. Fifty seven years ago. This happens to me all the time. Faces make an impression on me. And people with Asperger's are supposed to be face blind. I think it's because I stare at faces and photograph them. Maybe that's the case.

Must be nice! I can hardly remember the faces that ARE important to me, while people who I've met once 10 years ago remember who I am. They always say I remind them of someone... did I have a sister who went to such and such school (no), did I ever live in such and such a town (no). Very weird. Very, very weird. It used to take a couple of weeks on a job before I could remember who my boss was and what his name was. Had to write cheat-notes on my wrist to get by.

The kid came to my workplace once, when I wasn't expecting her, a couple of years ago. I was really tired, having had a two-week blitz of deadlines and personnel fires to put out. I turned around to look at her when I heard her come in and didn't know who she was until she spoke. Talk about feeling odd....~

My kid just picked up several skeins of a blend that's primarily synthetic, but is very soft and reminds me of cashmere at either Michael's or JoAnn's crafts and paid $2.50 a skein (they're on sale this month). You might want to check there. They've also got some really nice soft stuff that reminds me of chenille. Not top-of-the-line stuff, but when we've bought that brand it's lasted. I've got a throw for the couch that is about 20 years old and still going strong, made out of Lion Brand.

And the jeans are already broken in, that's the best part of thrift store jeans.

And trash picking is even better. It's free. Down the shore last week everyone was cleaning up there rental units and summer homes and throwing really decent stuff away. We brought home a bike and a small trampoline for the grand kids. And we would have brought home a lot more but we couldn't fit it in the back of the pick up. If I ever learned to drive, I would definitely want a pick up of my own. And not a nice, new pretty one. What is it with people who have to turn their vehicle in every 5 years for a new one. I do understand that cars, trucks and motorcycles have gone so electronic that self repair and maintenance are almost impossible these days. That's the industry's game. My husband always used to work on his cars and bikes. Now he has to take them to the shop. Plus there is that inspection BS. And insurance!! ! Stop the world, I want to get off. I wish I could go live in the sticks somewhere.

There's a thing here called "Freecycle" where you post a message about what you're looking for, or have to give away, and people who have the item or need it contact you. Got a lot of good stuff, and got good homes for a lot of our furniture and several crates of books back when I was cleaning out to put the house on the market.

If people from work hear this I'll get an earful, but I use Lion Brand and Bernat for my afghans, and sweaters for the kids. Red Heart is the only one that isn't nice after a few washes. It gets hard and rough.

And CC, I don't mind knitting with whatever you find if you ever want me to.

We've got a few things out of Red Heart - wash in woolite and they're ok. Also, after they're washed a lot, they get ok too. Kid likes Red Heart for her hats, gloves, and sweaters. She just finished a really nice cable-aran sorta thing in a natural wool color, and I think she's used Red Heart. Says that since it's an outer garment, and not going to touch her skin, it doesn't matter. And when the yarn is $1.99 a skein, it's a good deal (especially since she's a beginner). She's got some nice synthetic stuff in an incandescent yellow right now that she's making into a pair of socks. Dunno the brand, but this oughta be interesting. Goth Princess and neon yellow socks. Hmmm.

Drat. Have to get back to work. Ya'll have fun.

You might be right.I use to have an eyebrow piercing(took it out for a job interview and it closed up in a few hours 8O )It was always getting caught on the towel threads when I dried my hair so I left it out....for now.I also wore nothing but camo's for years...very comfy and love all those pockets(in case I find a cool rock, piece of rusty metal, piece of bark).Lately I have been wearing nothing but pajama bottomes(have to remember to check for that crucial button though,as I go ala buff beneath and would be quit drafty). One thing I love about where I live is no one looks twice at me.No noticable sneering or smirking, polite MN,the worst insult here is..."Oh,my,that's....interesting",very subtle.

I cant wait to read the "look me in the eyes",someone at work actually ripped a review out of a magazine and gave it to me,pretty cool of them,I thought. His brothers book"Running With Scissors"was very funny.I will be wwatchng for more of his writing(the last one wasnt as good, but I think it's because the first one was pretty hard to top.)Let us know how you like that book.

I hear you can go on www.covergirl.com and vote for her, but I got distracted by uploading a pic of me and trying on the different makups. I look pretty good as a black woman!

The makeup didn't distract me, and ignoring their "US residents only!! !", I voted for Heather, on your say-so.

Lauri, the kids are so beautiful. I love seeing pictures of everyone here - and their kids and family.

Krex, I loved the Running With Scissors movie.

I'm glad I don't have to go to work anymore. I hated people making remarks about my appearance. It was a very conservative place and my taste is not conservative. I always felt like I had to get into costume to go to work.

Once I worked in a Greek diner. I liked my bosses, a husband and wife I called Zeus & Hera. We wore black dresses and white aprons and we had to wear stockings (pantyhose) and spotless white sneakers. None of that bothered me but what I found funny was one time I wore my pony tail on the side instead of at the back of my neck as usual. Zeus, with out looking up from the batch of rice pudding he was making, said "Your pony tail, she is on the side. Put her in the middle."

If you liked the movie, you need to read the book, hate to sond clisha but it really was much better.

I wear a uniform to work, which is a nice break from hving to figure out what is exceptable to wear. All the jobs I have had for the past 12 years,I worked overnights and could wear almost anything I wanted, including PJ's,though I did get one complaint for "paint stains" on a sweatshirt I was wearing. There is some irony,if anyone looked in my closets,in that I have some very nice clothes.I collected them from "cheap places" for ...."when I become an adult and get a real job someday".I am getting rid of them but cant decide if they should be donated, sold on-line or consighned...the latter two are very time intenssive but I could use the extra few dollars.So.....they just hang there until I decide.I also have a wonderful collection of "vintage wear".Both groups of clothes have never actually been worn by me and I doubt ever will but I love that look of clothes, just not the feel of them.(Have a passion for textiles, collecting cheap silk and fur for "crafts" is one of my obsessions. Now,if I could just get off-line long enough to work on the crafts.

Passed away....by committing suicide. The phrase 'passed away' should not be applied to such a violent end.

A regrettable end.

his spirit passed, Quatermass. . and don't start with the 'shoulds', k?

Suicide should never happen.

(This was in the thread notifying WP that KingCrimson had committed suicide. It was already stated on the zOMG Aspie forums)

I have not seen her all day, I've been prowling the Random, GA, and here all day since 6:00 AM my time EDT, it is now 6:30
PM EDT.

"Suicide should never happen."

I too detest suicide and any talk that encourages or incites such. My first post on WP was a harsh criticism of someone
trying to encourage vulnerable young lady to end her life.

The first boy I EVER had a crush on in my life, that stood up for me against his friends, killed himself when he was 21. I never told him how I felt about him for fear of even more rejection. I'v often wondered if I had let him know how very deeply I cared about him if it would have made any difference. Just knowing that someone truly cared.
Mark Alexander Ostendorf. First time I'v seen that name written down in like 25 years. Still miss him. If I'd only known then what I know now.
