Never mind what that other guy posted. I really wish people weren't so quick to get so sensitive and start assuming things.
Here's the therapy I'm probably thinking of. I saw it done in a movie once, on a guy who was completely paralysed. It was either this therapy, or one very similar to it. The purpose, to stimulate muscles, and create muscle tone :
Quote:
Swedish / Esalen massage uses five main strokes to stimulate the circulation of blood through the soft tissues of the body. Through stroking and kneading, the body's metabolic processes and blood circulation are stimulated, enhancing one's sense of vitality, combined with active and passive movements of the joints to improve range of motion and muscle tone.

And anytime you wish to discuss your disability with me, or anything else, I am interested to listen. You're very smart. I checked out your websites. It takes a lot of creativity and intelligence to go about creating your own websites to advocate for the disabilities you represent.

:silent: I thought this site was where people could discuss their disabilities openly, without being so quick to offense. Gee.

You're a good guy... with a good sense of humor. Others could learn something from you.

Personally speaking I always see a person, not a disability. :?

Something that really annoyed me with a girl back in my school days, who was supposedly my "friend" ... Stuck her nose in without understanding anything at all... I was interested in sign language and attempting to ask the deaf kids, if they knew my brother who drove one of the school buses they rode on, but she got all hyperactive all over the conversation, without any understanding, and assuming things and signing things ... instead of having let Strapples do his own talking for himself... ummmmm, I meant, she was saying things to them in sign language ... it wasn't funny.

They walked away angry at me.
I hadn't even done anything! :x
Before I could even get my simple question, to them finished, "Do you know my brother...." she had already ruined everything, and the deaf kids were angry at me and walking away?!?!?!? because of her troublemaking.

Next time a person is disabled... please let them speak for themselves.

I'm sure that Alin (Strapples) has had people trying to suffocate him his entire life in their attempts to "Shelter" him, instead of letting him have independence. Its' quite obvious from his posts, his own websites... his boldness to you that he doesn't "need" somebody to speak for him.

THANKS! :?

my final opinion here is i dont mind my disability its a part of me, i LIKE my straps, thats a benefit to being disabled. if i wasnt well guess what, no straps for me LOL. i like having my developmental disability and sensory integration disorder, otherwise it would mean no warm tight neoprene to sleep in. i am happy with who and what iam and if others arent happy with it then they can shove it!

Thats my opinion

and now back on topic, heres another picture of me!

My son is wild about cars, and Aspergers over the Make, Model, Year ... he memorizes every car he sees. :) and loves racing games.

I'm very happy to acquaint you and make a friend on WP. *smile*

You're a neat guy with a lot of knowledge about medical and chemistry stuff. Wow. :) Had fun reading your blog and chatting tonight... thanks for explaining about the physical comfort you derive from "pressure" placed on your body (your "straps" ) -- and also not being easily offended. You're an intelligent, cute, fun guy.... and staying positive. People can really learn something from your example.

and, in case anyone's still in confusion what I was alluding to earlier about massage therapy and building muscle tone.. for the record, this is quite common medical practice,.
It's unfortunate and just wrong you weren't ever offered these services :( or even told about them. I hope you receive approval for them on a regular basis -- it is so very good for physical health. Anyone in a wheelchair needs them, to keep muscles firm and flexible. I hope you can get the services...

Quote:
Caring for -- and Blogging About -- Her Five Autistic Children
http://www.aolhealth.com/2010/03/04/car ... -odonnell/
AOL Health: Raising six children would be difficult for any mother, but when five are autistic, it's especially challenging. How do you cope?

JO: Caitlin gets community living assistance. That means she gets massage therapy once a week. Wouldn't we all like that?
/EXCERPT ..

...and the type of massage that's needed. Something like this :

Swedish / Esalen massage uses five main strokes to stimulate the circulation of blood through the soft tissues of the body. Through stroking and kneading, the body's metabolic processes and blood circulation are stimulated, enhancing one's sense of vitality, combined with active and passive movements of the joints to improve range of motion and muscle tone.
http://www.lovinghandsinstitute.com/htm/massage.htm

Something very similar to this therapy was shown in a movie called Lorenzo's Oil, where they regularly keep Lorenzo's body and limbs active, massaging and exercising every point of his body. Lorenzo was practically paralysed.
Lorenzo's Oil (Part 12)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWNvZ4dEjGU
(8:33-9:55) They show Lorenzo receiving some type of the massage therapy, similar to what I was speaking of. He suffered from severe loss of muscle tone. Lorenzo was paralysed due to Adrenoleucodistrofia (ALD) and could not exercise his limbs / body, so his mother and the nurse is doing it for him.

Still... the girl in the AOL article is Autistic, not paralysed and still receives massage therapy. So, Alin, you need those services approved for regular massage therapy, without any hassles.

And, if they don't approve the services... some regulations need to be changed, so you can get them.

I've never sued anyone... though plenty of people have done things, that I could have.

It's not worth it.

But there's plenty of people on WP who could petition your county/state, if you were refused those services.

I couldn't sleep until I got some facts figured out.
 I could expect that an NT might be pulling my leg and joking around... whilst a masseuse was rubbing them down, posting on the web "Oh no, massage therapy was never suggested to me"
... but not somebody who's Autistic.
Autistic people are literal... and when they say "Nobody ever suggested it," it can be ascertained, they mean what they say.

You said in your message to me earlier, they really never suggested massage therapy.

I find this unbelievable... or maybe I'm just missing something here.
Thanks for clarifying the condition is Cerebral Palsy, a condition that does NOT become progressively worse, but can in fact be treated with the right kind of therapy,
Quote:
"In December 0f 2009 it was FINAL that I do not have a progressive disease and that I have Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy".

Okay... and I looked up Cerebral Palsy on the federal website, and its saying
http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/cere ... _palsy.htm
Quote:
Cerebral palsy can’t be cured, but treatment will often improve a child's capabilities. Many children go on to enjoy near-normal adult lives if their disabilities are properly managed. In general, the earlier treatment begins the better chance children have of overcoming developmental disabilities or learning new ways to accomplish the tasks that challenge them.

The very first, and foremost treatment for Cerebral Palsy on the federal website, is in fact, Physical Therapy

And according to the web, massage therapy is included in the definition of "Physical Therapy," and "Occupational Therapy".
