Why are you here? I have autism and nonverbal learning disorder. I enjoy reading about other people's experiences with these conditions in order to learn how to better cope with them.

Year/Grade: In between high-school and college. I graduated shortly after turning nineteen and have been working on my independence skills since, unable to start college because of impairments.

Favorite music: Shawn James, at the moment.

Books: [Fiction] Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein (favorite author), Ready Player One, and the Discworld series; [Nonfiction] Life by Richard Fortey and The Impending Crisis by David M. Potter

How did you find this website? I was dissatisfied with the other autism forum I was a member of, so I went searching for another and this was the most active.

Job: A few odd tasks for the family business, nothing really constituting a "job."

Plans for the future? Start college next August and work on growing more independent, maybe learn to drive and volunteer to learn job skills.

Any comments? I don't think I come across as very friendly in my posts - when I read through my archives I usually seem to come across as stiff or formal - but I do enjoy the company of the people here.

Art, literature, history, philosophy. If I didn't like it, it was because of dyspraxia and doing practicals rather than problems with the subject itself - I'm getting into science and maths more as an adult.

Irish folk music, cheesy pop music and country music. I like a mix though.

I have two dads and neither of them is gay. That's because my stepdad adopted me because my dad couldn't cope looking after me and mum might have died.

I have step sisters but they're too old to be like proper siblings. I have cousins and an aunt and uncle. I had an amazing eccentric great uncle. I have a lovely, stubborn granddad.

I have no idea who is aspie or not in my family but I suspect a lot of people. The ones I don't are the other women and my uncle.

I really like my letterman jacket and jeans. I look good in that.
