Woah, this thing is cranking up. 8O I'd forgotten it was this weekend.

Things over there are going whooomp, whooomp... puffs of smoke... things going boomboombboom reeeeeally fast to where ya feel it in your lungs, other things going kinda "crummp"ish. Don't like that sound. Yick. :?

All sorts of aircraft up. .... there go the car alarms. Oh my. Those are not the Blue Angels practicing like last year. Definitely wrong color.

Have to go to an extremely boring meeting in about an hour. Hope I can get a seat opposite the window so I can "daydream" looking east. It's gotta be better than listening to a bunch of intra-office politics.

8O My boss just phoned to tell me that I'll be teaching a class this evening! 8O I have successfully avoided it so far, but I think my luck just ran out. It doesn't matter how well I knit, when I have to teach someone else, I forget everything. And I haven't even looked at the pattern! 8O This is what the ladies are learning to make:

My mom made the store sample so hopefully she'll come in and help, at least just to get the ladies started and then I can take it from there. So much for no stress, i'm nervous already!! Maybe I'll buy the yarn and make it along with them. That may help! EEEKKKK!

You'll do fine, mom. If you can deal with toddlers and preschoolers, you can teach this class!

We had our airshow in August. The Snowbirds were flying over the city for 2 days. I love the sound of the jets going over but could do without the aircraft carriers and helicopters. I thought my poor border collie was gonna' get an ulcer. And Kid #3 hid in the basement all weekend. He's with you on the noise factor.

They're just below the "it would be tremendously unpleasant" scale on sound level. It's the crumpy noise thing that's yicky this year. Dunno what they're doing, but it definitely looks like they're gearing up for "Bread and Circuses" weekend....

Gotta go make photocopies. Seeya.

Lauri, that sweater vest is beautiful. And it looks as though it would be very figure flattering.
Good luck with your class.

Flying aircraft carriers? Hmmm... Yes, here and here.

Isn't that what that those great big planes with the huge space for carrying vehicles and such are called? I'm about as good with planes, trains and automobiles as I am with computers and math.

What are they called? Gromit....? Hello......??

Never mind, I found it! Cargo plane.

I wonder how much "energy" is wasted on things like "airshows"?Me thinks we have a long way to go before we start to actually get the concept of "waste" of Non renueable resources.

Nan..............I am usually a proponent of "hands off" and letting kids make their own choices. However,I made some pretty short-sighted ones based on emideate comfort vs long term benefits. When my parents asked me if I wanted braces at 13...I thought about them paying all that money(doubted that I was worth it...my issue, not theirs)and that I was already geeky and hated enough with out spending the next 5 years as a "metal mouth",,,,,and said no.I have been paying for that decission most of my life as the croocked teeth are more prone to decay.

I think you should be a bit more "in-charge" and pro-active,if possible.I know she is an adult now(do aspies grow up?)but I think she will thank you in the long run if you "make her" follow through with this appointment.Maybe the result will not be helpful but you will both wonder if you dont do it.There are times now when I wish my parents hadn't given me enough rope to hand myself,,cause that's what I tended to do.....ouch.

Hope you dont mind my preaching...but I do think that if my parents had taken the reighns concerning things I was afraid to do or put off because it interfered with my "special interests",I would have benifitted in the long run.(I personally ran my life based on the belief that I would kill myself in the next year anyway....not very pro-active in the long run planning)

Chuck,

Thanks for the link.I was raised as a Christian Scientist and had no medical interventions(even over the counter stuff)when I was growing up....I would have killed for an Acetamenophen, some days but I think the long term effects of letting my body fight for itself does have some benifits.

Thanks! I've developed a lovely tension migraine in the past 2 hours. I know it will be fine. I think I'm more worried about what I'm going to say these women who will be sitting at the table with me for 3 hours. :? Not real good at the small talk!

Left Brain v Right Brain

Right after I posted yesterday, I thought "Wait a sec, this is the age of the internets. It means Don't feed the trolls or some such." Then I thought about squeezing too much toothpaste out of the tube - you only need a pea-sized blob to get the job done, after all. Then I thought, "Uh-oh, we're getting into one of those 'lock me in the cellar till it's over' moments; better SIGN OFF and use some of this energy on the washing and the washing-up." So that's what I did.

Won't be time for any such foolery today; Birdie is coming for a visit, and the little nipper has learned how to crawl, and he is fast. Will call in to the Café later this arvo if I'm not too wrecked!

The Tylenol question - would be almost impossible to prove. Very hard to link a problem that occurs only rarely, which doesn't show up until age 12, to a drug a kid's mom took while pregnant. Still, I have my suspicions. Can't prove it.

Chuck, I took Tylenol when pregnant with my daughter, and she was born with odd hip problems, which was later diagnosed as hip dysplasia.

(Hartz - while I was working last night the thought occurred to me that fibromyalgia may be caused by excessive Substance P in the spinal cord (or an abnormal response to it), but I don't even know if Substance P exists in the spinal cord ( I know it does in the peripheral nerves). I'll check this out when I have more time. I was thinking about what you said about developing ADD-like symptoms after taking the meds they put you on, and I wondered if what they gave you lowered your dopamine or norepinephrine? Then my ADD brain jumped to your fibromyalgia and I went over the 60 neurotransmitters in my mind, and I started wondering about Substance P. If I was investigating fibromyalgia, this is one thing that I would look at, and they maybe already are - don't know and haven't had time yet to look. Ain't you glad you don't have to go through life like this? ).

I will be very interested, if you find out anything more on that! I currently subscribe to a couple of online newsletters about CFIDS and Fibro, but they aren't of much use.

Blessedmom, I wish I could have that beautiful sweater vest. I can't knit, though. I usually go upside down or backwards, LOL.
