You're not wrong! :D

Blessedmom, the sweater pattern looks like a knitted interpretation of the tie-dye concept, ah, memories. Hope you go all right tonight.

Nan, I sympathise. Here we are, living in highly-developed, technologically-advanced, state-of-the-art-equipped environments, and the response to our health issues, often as not, is MICO (masterly inactivity and catlike observation).

Hey Nan,

It doesn't explain it all but have you looked at neurocardiogenic syncope? (sometimes called electrocardiogenic syncope)

For years doctors couldn't figure out why I was getting lightheaded and fainting until my dad was in a car accident. When he was in the hospital they did a table-tilt test and found this condition. Apparently it is genetic in our family as my dad has it, it fits all my symptoms and grandpa had symptoms as well.

http://www.hrtcare.com/neurosyn.asp

It is something that will affect you in some types of exercise and not others because of how it affects the blood pressure regulation. My dad takes medication for it but I currently do not. I still occasionally have problems but I have learned the sensations that lead up to a problem and take action before I have a further problem. For example if I ride my bike and stop quickly without slowing down to allow my blood pressure to slow with me I will get a certain feeling. I will be able to feel the thumping of my pulse in my neck without touching it with my fingers. That is a sign that I need to act NOW and sit or lay down. Many times I didn't act fast enough and carefully enough and I would pass out as I was in the process of trying to sit down. This has caused some close calls. (fell straight back in a tall backed bar stool at a friends house and my head landed about 2 inches to the left of an antique church pew)

Other triggers for lightheadedness can be sitting for a long period of time and standing up, bending over, heat especially if standing for a long time.

I don't know if I am explaining it very well because I have been having a kinda rough evening but I did provide a link.

It wouldn't be the whole picture but maybe it could be similar to a larger piece.

Blessedmom, I wish I could have that beautiful sweater vest. I can't knit, though. I usually go upside down or backwards, LOL.

Well, it's knit round and round and round and round. Best done when dizzy!

I lucked out and only one lady showed up and my mother was also there. Good thing seeing as how the first 6 rounds of that lovely vest are confusing as all heck. Start with 5 double pointed needles, increase here, add stitch marker there, stand on your head and wiggle your toes! Tie a maraschino cherry in a knot with your tongue while increasing every other round and switch to a circular needle. OK, not that bad and I think I can teach her on my own next week. She was a really nice person. We didn't talk much. My mother talked non-stop so we just did the occasional smile and nod. I don't even talk that much anymore!

The yarn I picked is in shades of browns, rusts, and greens. I'll post a pic when I'm done. I've got two sweaters, a shell, a scarf and now the vest on the go.

You explained it very well! I'm sorry you're having a rough evening. I hope it gets better for you. And you are always welcome to write about it if you need to!

Thanks. I might write about it sometime when I feel like I can condense it to less than a novel. ;)

The most basic description would be on going conflict with my mom which a most likely due to both of us have AS. I feel like I am talking to a brick wall and she doesn't understand why I am so upset even though the exact situation has been discussed many times before.

Hehe, see I tried to leave it at that one sentence of description and has the add the extra two sentences. ;)

 There aren't very many one sentence posters in this cafe! And your trouble with your mom.....I can relate in a BIG way!! ! I'm 39 and I still have mother issues. They've gotten better over time but they are still there. Frustrating, isn't it? My heart goes out to you! I'll read your novel when you write it!

Thanks! :D At least when I learned about AS our encounters made a lot more sense. Though it doesn't really change the way it plays out.

this cracked me up. I stood in the road on the way to Camp Pendleton back in the day when we were protesting 'Nam. I remember the "bread and circuses "in San Diego.

Yeah, I know. I wish I could offer you some advice, but I know how complicated it can get when it involves our families! :)

I just finished reading Pretending to be Normal and I think if I can get here to read it then it might be a good start, especially since it is about a mom that doesn't find out she has AS until after one of her daughters is DX'd.

I think you're right about her reading it. I have read all sorts of books about AS and it helps me understand my AS kids and myself and my father. I avoid a lot of conflict now that would have turned into huge arguments before.

I'm off to bed! Hope your night is peaceful!

Bread and circuses? Oh do tell. I still don't speak of the electric circus I saw, can't be the same.

f****n fighter jets taking off in the middle of the night and it seemed like all night sometimes. I know they kicked on the afterburners just to get me all nervous. They're evul, I know it. Wouldn't have been near as bad if they weren't shaking the bunk as they went off.

Ah the good ol days of B-52's refueling over the house. Take my little kid treks through the fields and find that Christmas tree tinsel on the ground. I didn't understand what it was for a long time, I guess I figured someone had a dragged a tree out of their house or the wind had blown it there. Kids today, bah, they just don't know what they've missed. Sonic booms and the fighters as made dry runs on the school. Now those were the good ol days.

I never understood if I was good at telling aircraft or bad. I always seemed to be with the same ones doing the aircraft recognition tests. One of those obsessions with trying to figure out what was whizzing all around when we grew up. Hell I couldn't tell a Russian helicopter from an allied anymore. I don't think they stayed with a 5 blade vs a 4 anymore. And yeah you can tell when they're flying the damn things. I remember hearing a strange helicopter sound at Hood, I looked up and there was this really strange one, no markings on it, except a gold band around the middle of it. No they don't always tell us what they're up to. Come to think of it maybe that's why helicopters bug me to this day. Damn gunships leaving the pads all night at Hood. It was a plot, why did they always stick me right near the landing fields. They evul I tell you. Then there was the night one wise ass decided to put a light through the third floor window while hovering right out side the window. No damn wonder it freaks me to this day.

Naw I wouldn't come out of the cellar for a week if there was an airshow near by.

Well, I'm off to bed too. I don't want to miss my hair appointment two weeks in a row. You never want to make your hairdresser angry with you.... 8O

Hopefully she has forgiven me for last Saturday since I have a very distinct way I would like my hair to look when I chop it short tomorrow and I don't want any 'accidents'.
