I thought it would be less stressful to fill out one of these than to make a separate post, at least for the moment.
What is your first name?: Carolyn
Age: 33
Location: Canada
Hobbies and Interests: Doctor Who, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: Voyager, singing, writing, psychology. At least those are some of the main ones.
Why are you here?: I just got diagnosed with ASD, and am looking to talk to other autistic people and read more about the disorder and how people experience it.
When were you diagnosed?: Within the last month. Not sure of the exact date.
Favorite subjects: English, music, French, psychology, sociology
Year/Grade: I have the credits of a third-year university student. About one year of those could go towards a B.A. I also have a bunch of credits from music school.
Favorite music: Too much to list.
Books: Can't do a list right now. My apologies.
TV shows/Movies: Can't do a list right now. My apologies.
Instrument: I love to play piano, recorder, tin whistle, and percussion. Would also love to learn violin. Guitar is the bane of my existence to play and it's very unfortunate.
Do you like sports?: Not that many tbh. I like to watch hockey and football (not American football), and play badminton.
Family: Mother, father, older half-sister, younger sister.
Clothing: T-shirts and jeans. I like wearing t-shirts of things I like - fandoms, singers, bands, whatever.
How did you find this website?: I was reminded that this place existed from a bunch of different blogs from Aspie/ASD individuals. I think I knew of its existence many years ago, but had forgotten.
Job: None right now. I haven't been able to work in a long time.
Plans for the future?: I want to go back to university and actually finish my degree. To do that I'm probably going to need therapy specifically focused on the ASD symptoms, but so far do not have the resources for that. Not exactly sure where to turn about these things.
Any comments?: I'm still at a stage where I hate a lot of things about being ASD, particularly all the sensory overload, not to mention the fact that I can never 100% recover from this. I've been told that getting diagnosed with a PDD as an adult often involves a grieving period, which I'm pretty sure I'm in. It's a work in progress, I guess. *sigh*
