Lemon don't encourage her. I didn't understand those sentances at all. Merle ma gurl is... a little different.

Ok, I've got to do something with XP on this machine. If I don't return, send Bill Gates hate mail, please. I do not want to do this, again. :cry:

Good morning, everyone!!

It's National Grouch Day here in Canada, so Gromit and Postie will fit right in! Maybe Lau, too, I've seen him get a wee bit cantakerous on occasion. :wink: I'll bake 2 cakes, an angel food cake for lil' girls birthday and a lovely Spam and kipper for the resident grouches! :D

Sorry, Postie! I can't part with my chain saw. I think I'll need to replenish my big stick supply! :twisted:

Pleased to see you're baking a cake for the Cafe, don't forget to put the saw in it. Not the chain saw, a hacksaw blade will work just fine. Some days it is worth it to saw through the bars.

Have you chewed through the restraints? :twisted:

Hi all, spent yesterday afternoon at the ER. "Mommy's Baby Angel" (who is now 6 and no longer a baby) was running thru the house, tripped, and put a tooth thru her lip. Needless to say, I freaked right out, saw the ALL THAT BLOOD, and scooped her right up and off we went. Turns out she was fine, I was a wreck. Just the thought of ANYTHING hurting her is really tramatic for me. I'v become even more over-protective since my oldest daughters death.
Anyhow...I'v missed you all and have almost caught up w/ the reading. Like Lau, it's crazy, you leave for 2 days and suddenly theres 12-13 pages to catch up on.
Hi Sapphix, Hi rathermousie, I'm kinda new here also, everyone is very nice, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it here as much as I do.
Been super busy at work, (winter means private parties which equals excellent money) This Friday I have some Hockey team at 1:30, then again that night and Sat. at 1:30 again. They come to "Carbo-load"
I agree w/ Merles statement completly, it's exactly how I feel and yet I'm unable to express it as succintly as Merle. Judging from my long posts I'm unable to express anything succintly. :oops:
Blessedmom, how ya doing? Everything going o.k. w/ you I hope. How was your class, I'm confident you "rose to the occasion" and noone knew how nervous you were. Am I right?
Glad your back Nannorob, I bet after reading my drivel everyone is wishing you hadn't offered your gentle encouragement to get me to come out of my shell a little Huh? :P
2 more days to PFD's! Can't wait. Have thought about paying off the car but would rather spend it on something frivolous (Like a BIKE) Bike riding season is only 5 1/2 months away you know. :lol:

Living at night isn't what causes me to be out of sync. I do live at night. But my night is your day. I'm perched on the southern tip of Africa. So now its your turn to be truly afraid :D

OOOWWW! The poor baby! And poor mom! :wink: We've had our fair share of teeth through lips, tongues and even into the flesh on top of another siblings head! (trampoline accident) The amount of blood always catches me off guard! I tend to hold off on the emergency room visits now, though. After all the injuries and accidents these kids have had, I don't panic much anymore. I think the worst was when Soccerdude was 2 years old, went running into Grandma's bathroom, tripped and smashed his eye on the edge of the toilet bowl. It was a darn good thing my mother was there because his eye swelled so fast and was bleeding so much I thought for sure he'd lost an eye! I was a little hysterical.

Speaking of little girls, my little "angel" turned 7 today. I am torn between feeling sad that my last baby is growing up and being happy about the freedom I'm gaining as they all get older. I enjoy them all much more now that they are no longer young children. (The lovely little child has taped a red sign with skull and warning on her door. She made it herself. It says "Keep out! You will be cursed." So much for my little princess. And she informed me she wants to be pirate for Halloween. I guess that's a step up from the Princess of Darkness she was last year! Black Goth make-up and all! :lol: )

The class went fine and the lady that did show up must not have had a problem with me. She showed up yesterday to ask me some questions and have a visit. 8O I guess she figured she'd catch me when my mother wasn't around. :lol: I'm actually looking forward to the next 2 Fridays. If I could get enough hours at the store, I would quit the dayhome in a minute and just work at the store. It's my first job working with other adults that I enjoy.

Are the car payments stressing you out or hard to manage? I know my advice will raise an eyebrow or 2 but I would say if you can manage the car payments every month, you should go for the bike. I happen to believe that life it too short to put off things that will bring you happiness. It sounds like the bike would bring you and your daughter a lot of joy. Not to mention the memories your daughter will take through life with her because of it. :wink:

Sapphix, your from South Africa! Huge Miriam Makeba fan here. You would't by any chance be able to find an english translation of Nkosie sikelele Africa would you? Have been searching for 1 forever w/ no luck.
It's the most beautiful National Anthem I'v ever heard and even my children know every word to it. Unfortunatly none of us know what we're singing except "God Bless Africa."

Hi - sure I can give you a translation. I'm english speaking, but I learnt the words of Nkosi Sikelele when I was 9 years old.

The national anthem is a combination of xhosa, english and afrikaans. If you want just the Xhosa version, then I'll try to find the full lyrics for you.

(Xhosa) (English translation)

Nkosi sikeleli Afrika Lord, Bless Africa
Malup hakanyiswu phondolwayo May her horn rise up high
Yiswa imithanda zo yethu Hear through our prayers
Nkosi sikelela thina lusapolwayo Lord, bless us.

(Afrikaans)

Uit die blou van onse hemel,
uit die diepte van ons see,
oor ons ewige gebergtes waar
die kranse antwoord gee,

(English)

Sounds the call to come together,
and united we shall stand,
let us live and strive for freedom
in South Africa our land!

Here is the full original version:

God Bless Africa

Original Lovedale English Translation

Lord, bless Africa;
May her horn rise high up;
Hear Thou our prayers And bless us.

Chorus
Descend, O Spirit,
Descend, O Holy Spirit.

Bless our chiefs
May they remember their Creator.
Fear Him and revere Him,
That He may bless them.

Bless the public men,
Bless also the youth
That they may carry the land with patience
and that Thou mayst bless them.

Bless the wives
And also all young women;
Lift up all the young girls
And bless them.

Bless the ministers
of all the churches of this land;
Endue them with Thy Spirit
And bless them.

Bless agriculture and stock raising
Banish all famine and diseases;
Fill the land with good health
And bless it.

Bless our efforts
of union and self-uplift,
Of education and mutual understanding
And bless them.

Lord, bless Africa
Blot out all its wickedness
And its transgressions and sins,
And bless it.
