i've got a job ! !!
and it's a perfect one (except that i have to drive 3quarters of an hour to get there)
it's working with young people, doing workshops and being there and inspire them them visit the clubhouse.
i can integrate computer, artistic and musical skills.
it's an organisation that really listens to the young people and the members don't pretend
to know all about everything.
the interview was special, the whole group (8 or 10 people) participated, first that was a little weird, but since it was so subjectfocussed,it was ok, i even ended up telling jokes with people i had never met.
and they were really interested in the conversation, it showed in their questions.
i start on nov5.

they ask me to find my own place, first to come and meet the young people and then to take initiatives where i see they can be done.

Now I'm starting to really get worried. Mom absolutely doesn't remember something that both dad and I do. Something that we both spoke about with her. Myself it was only once but dad says he spoke with her about it for two weeks. She says we must not know anything about it because that didn't happen and she hates it when people don't tell her things she needs to know. This is bad enough, I have not clue what to do about it because there is no way to prove it to her. To make it worse though it made me remember something which added together might be even more disturbing. A couple of months ago I was devastated because I found out that someone that was like a grandparent to me from where we used to live had passed away quite a while ago. My parents said they spoke with me about this shortly after they found out. I have no memory of them telling me. 8O

So now we have something that mom doesn't remember that dad and I do related to the death of a bird. (dad said the bird had been sick for a while and the knew about it)

On the other hand we have the death of a person from old age that I don't remember discussing.

I really don't like this pattern. Now even though I remember her telling me what had happened to the bird I can't help but remember how vehemently I argued that they had never told me about my family friend.

Not good signs folks. :?

I'm gonna go to bed because I am emotionally worn out... well and I have to do that work thing tomorrow.

Hope you don't have problems with the glass Nan. I've had that problem where I though I found all of a glass something and I love walking around barefoot. Ouch. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

G'night. Its been a crazy couple of days. I'll try and actually post something positive soon.

That is indeed great news. Happy for you.
(Even if you and my gurl Merle are plotting things from the same side. I'll over look that for now. )

That's wonderful news about your new job, lemon! Hope you have fun!

Speaking of jobs, Postie, you did say some while ago that you'd worked for Corning, but I'm glad you mentioned it again. Back in my own misspent youth, I had the dubious fortune of working in a glass factory. It was a well-paid gig (for unskilled female labour, that is). But the hours were horrendous. It averaged out to 40 hours/week, all right, but you did it in 7-day chunks, rotating from day shift to nights to afternoons, against the clock. Nothing matched it for sheer Dickensian gloom except the time I worked in a hospital linen room, which was in the basement right next to the morgue... but that's another story!

Congratulations Lemon. That didn't take too long, did it? Someone recognises quality!

I used to drive for threequarters of an hour for 3 days a week. (ahem ... and over an hour 2 days a week) I used to do pelvic floor exercises on those drives! Soon you won't even notice the distance. You're in your own private space for that length of time.

Welcome Sapphix!

Six days of day shift, then about one and a half days off. Seven days of night shift, then about two and a half days off. Seven days of afternoon shift, followed by... who knows; invariably it passed very quickly in a haze of exhaustion and substance abuse. Then back to day shift again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Formerly pleasant folks became bitchy and bitter. Folks who were nasty to begin with, well, they passed quickly through cliquery and backstabbing to vicious practical jokes on unsuspecting fellow workers. It was the sort of environment that brought out the absolute worst in anyone who worked there.

The linen-room job was more benign on the social-relations front, but the atmosphere was dreadful in a couple of other ways. For one, the constant burnt-fibre and melted-plastic smell from the massive industrial-size clothes dryers, plus the continual hissing, roaring and clanking of pipes. For another, the fact that we were right next to the morgue, and it was a very hot summer, and some poor deceased person was brought in whose remains had not been discovered till quite late in the piece, and... whoof, that was an unpleasant coupla weeks! I'll never forget that smell.

They still use those hours in most of the factories around here! And the laundry in the hospital here is next door to the morgue. I was going to apply for a job in that dept. when my library assistant job became obsolete. Just the smell of the embalming fluid, mixed with the smell you described was enough to change my mind! ICK!
