I think we develop some tricks to learn how to function with this...when ever I write a word with a D,P..I have so say it aloud before I can pick which one to use...When I am trying to figure ou left or right...I have to point with the hand before the name for that direction will pop into my mouth...rather embarassing at 43,but it works when I remember to do it.

Hey, I couldn't do "left" or "right" until I was well into my 20s. The trick (now memorized) is that you hold up your hands, palms away from you, and stick your thumbs out at like a 90 degree angle. The one that forms the L shape is left.

WOOHOO!! ! YYEESSS!! ! :D :D

I am about to brag about a kid, just so you're all warned!! :D :D

I just received a letter from the boys high school about Kid #1. He's an Aspie and in Gr.11 (for those who don't know)

The letter starts:

"The staff and principal of "high school" are pleased to invite you to the Induction Ceremony for new members of the National Honor Society. We would be pleased if you could join us to recognize these exceptional young people."
Of course I'll be there!! ! :D

His letter reads:
Congratulations on being selected for membership in the "Highschool" chapter of the National Honor Society!

Membership in the National Honour Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. The Society has worked to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers and the community. Chapters across North America strive to give practical meaning to the Society's goals of scholarship, service, leadership and character.

These four ideals are considered as the basis for selection of Chapter Members. No student is inducted simply because of high academic average; the National Honor Society strives to recognize the student who excels in all areas. The standards used for membership selection follow:

Scholarship
Leadership
Service
Character
-80% cumulative average as demonstrated by activities and teacher recommendations""

It goes on to talk about the resposibilities of the members and so on.

I am so excited!! This is a kid who had to be homeschooled 3 years ago because his self-esteem was so low that he couldn't attend school and was failing due to bullying! :D

This makes all the other stuff worth it!! :D

Congrats.

We're all thinking of sneaking out at coffee break to go sit on the retaining wall to watch the swat team arrive.

We SO do not have the proper attitude.

Can we say "burned out"? Yes, why yes, I think we all can.

I guess whistling and "whoo whooo whooo" noises are out, too.

How many years now...hmmm, how long HAS it been. Eleven here, another half dozen at other places. Not counting being on the student side - too many of those to count!

Ah, do I hear a helicopter? Hmmm. Must be the media, it's too early for the show.

Really, congrats on son's progress. That'll be a real feather in his cap, I'd imagine. :D
Should be for his mom's, too! Will look nice on his college entrance papers, if he's going that way.

  Probably not!!

Thanks! It will look very good on his University application. He's interested in engineering or medicine, I'm thinking more along the engineering , but it's his life to live, not mine.
I just hope after school is all done he can make the transition into real life better than his mother did!

(And they told me my kids would end up being a "raised by a single parent" statistic!! PPPLLPPLLPLPLLLLL :P ! to them!)

Halloween is almost here my very very favorite holiday of the whole year. I get to scare kids and they can't do a thing to me. I get to do the things I really want to do to the neighbors homes, property, and yard animals, that I dream about all year. I get to build a really really huge fire and dance skyclad well into the night with music shaking the firehouse windows and call it freedom of religious practice. It is so, hey I'm reformed, I don't sacrifice kids anymore, that's only the orthodox ones. Life is good, yes it is.
