Blesed om...You may have already tried this trick but I have done soemthing that has helped my ingrown(bigtoe)nails, that you might try.

Find the middle of the nail...at the end...the part you would clip,(dang,I wish I could draw a picture here)and put a v-shaped notch there. As the nail grows out,the nail grows towards the center notch and pulls away from the edge.It has helped me a great deal, though you do have to keep doing it as the nail grows out.

We had tried that with Kid #3. It might work for Kid2 because his isn't as ingrown. Kid3 will have to have his done next week, just as my dad and my brother did. (Poor kids! Is there anything else genetic they can have trouble with? )

NEVER ask that question, Lauri. The universe has a perverse sense of humor. :?

And Hartzofspace, where are you? I've just seen you have a cat with the same name as mine! Avalon. What are the chances of that? No, that isn't an invitation for a statistical analysis, just a figure of speech :)

I'm here. Was just hiding out in my cave for a while, with Avalon. :) Have not been on the computer today, either.

Lemon, congratulations on finding a job that you can feel good about! That's quite a feat.

Blessedmom, that is great about your son. My daughter got accepted into the Arts Honor Society when she was in high school. It was awesome!

Believe me, I know. I've got asthma, AS and depression from my dad's side and Crohn's, allergies and bad eyesight from my mother's side! Someone should have named me "Lucky"

Spent the day looking at As information and web-sites and found another one I thought worth linking. It is an on-line magazine for people with disabilities and has several writers with AS.I really liked the women that I am linking.I swear she has used some of my very own words...almost spooky.

Rathermousie....the memory thing is very disturbing. It has happened to me my whole life,so I know it's not "alzheimer's".I used to think my mother was trying to drive me insane by saying I hadnt told her things(that I knew I had)or things she said that she had told me...that I knew she hadn't.I still dont understand how this can happen but I do think it might have something to do with AS.

I am used to having short-term memory problems all the time, like walking into a room and not remembering why. These large discussed events that 'just don't exist' in my mind are terrifying to me. Most things can be 'jogged' in my mind but not these events. I am afraid of what other things I will forget too and how much worse will it get in my lifetime. I guess I shouldn't stress too much because it will only make my memory worse but its not easy.

Congrats Blessedmom!

Uh, I kind of missed it. Embarassed They did ring my cell phone and give me the recorded message, but then I got to working on a letter and kind of lost track of time for a couple of hours. Only surfaced when the boss asked if I was going to lunch or not at about 12:45. Darn. I wanted to go watch that, too. Wink

I'm paranoid. I would be worried the whole time that someone would take advantage of the fact that everyone was told not to react. If they pulled some stunt to coincide it might actually be worse. At least there would already be a SWAT team there even if they might not realize the change in events right away. I should try not to over think things I suppose.

Well, my lovely silence is finally being disrupted. In July, my noisy neighbor finally moved out. A new guy was supposed to move in sometime in August, but never showed. After two lovely months, somebody has moved in there. The structure of this house is designed to drive me crazy. Every time that somebody moves around over there, I can feel the vibration. If they shut their front door, it jars the entire house, and if I'm in bed, it actually shakes it, disrupting my sleep. If I'm sitting at my desk, my chair quivers every time they walk around. Its like having somebody continuously brushing into your chair in a busy room, while you're trying to work.

Very distracting! And I don't even want to think about loud music or televisions. Is there a God? I will soon lose count of how many times I have moved, trying to find a quiet little spot for myself. The fibro makes it worse. And if I complain, of course no one understands how these seemingly small things can actually cause meltdowns. I have been checking out two other houses in the development. One is still attached to another, but has only one bedroom. This one has two. And the other is a studio apartment with next to no storage. But it is free standing. I have already asked the landlord if I can switch houses. He is ok with it, but I can't until somebody moves out, next July 2008. sorry for the rant. :(

Maybe you'll luck out and someone'll move out earlier. :) I lived in a townhouse (row house) for 7 years so I can sympathize with you, especially about being able to feel the vibrations. Darn near drove me nuts, that did.

Shame on you, we need spirirtual music in here, not some silly bits.
George Harrison does some very nice songs along these lines.

Living in Australia, I miss the Halloween celebrations of my youth. And the local opposition to Halloween falls back on such spurious (to my mind) arguments. "It's so American." Yeah, except that it's founded on traditional night-before-All-Saints'-Day practices in the Catholic bastions of Ireland and Huguenot France. "It's so demonic." See above. "It's so commercial." As if that stops anyone from going balls-out commercial over Christmas Day, or Mother's Day, or any other day that ends with the letter "Y", for that matter!

Grrr.

Anyway. Bravo, bravo, bravissimo to the highly-achieving scholars, and to their justifiably-proud parents here in the Café! Well done, all of you.
