ah, i was right this morning. here we go again. closing the windows, the smoke is too much. waiting for the reverse 911 call. have all the papers gathered, the cat carriers ready. some friends of ours farther north just got their call and were checking with us to see if our place is clear if they need to come here. they've decided to go farther towards the ocean, rather than have to make a second jump.

my new boss just called to see if we are ok - she's a sweetie! she's not sure exactly where we live, but knows we're out in this part of the county. my last boss, when i called her to ask if we could evacuate some of our caged animals to her garage (she'd always said if we needed her to call) didn't want to deal with "the mess." we're not in the direct path in the immediate present, but the wind's shifted to our direction and it's the flying embers and ash that's the dangerous part. so far no ash is falling here yet but the smoke is very strong. somebody's already died in the fire to our south, and i think i heard that a fire engine company was overrun and they're medivaccing them in. or maybe that was at the fire to our northeast. i dunno. but in a half hour one of 'em went from them saying it was 500 acres to 3,500 acres.

needless to say, i won't be on WP the rest of the night, unless the wind shifts back to due west again or dies out. see ya'll later on, from one computer or another. sorry that my life is sounding like a soap opera or a bad sci-fi channel movie. it's been that lately.

(i really GOT to get this place sold and out of here. i really do.)

Take care of yourself, Nan. Let us know how things are.

Will do, of course. Here's a link to the local AM redneck radio station here, normally not good for much other than George Noorey late at night, but they've got the best coverage in town, as always.

http://www.kogo.com/pages/streaming.html

The county emergency server, where they're telling everyone to go to on the net, has been down for hours. Oy.

Seeya!~

They aren't allowing Canadians to access the station. I'll keep an eye out on the news.

The station is out of the San Diego area. The net news seems to be talking about the ones further north.

Ahhh, snark, how I love thee.

DeaconBlues, right around the time I went offline, you mentioned that you also visit the Television Without Pity forums. People let me tell you, TWoP excels when it comes to teh snark. It's in their motto, for cryin' out loud: "Spare the snark; spoil the networks."

I mainly hung out in the Lost boards. As with any TWoP discussion board, insults directed against other posters or fans were strictly verboten, no matter how vehemently you disagreed with someone's views on casting, storylines, character 'ships or whatever. When it came to the powers-that-be, however - the producers, directors, writers and network execs behind the show - it was open season, and my, the air did get quite blue at times!

I bailed not long after Bravo acquired TWoP. One of my favourite recappers decided not to stay on after the handover, and his replacement just didn't seem to have her heart in the task. Oh but it was fun while it lasted! Innamorata did her best to get us all watching Battlestar Galactica, and if I never watch it, it won't be from lack of effort on her part.

As one who lived through the Black Christmas bushfires of 2001, Nan, I hope with all my heart that you and yours escape undamaged. I'm also reminded that with summer on the way, we must urgently look to our own bushfire safety preparations.

Ok  I may be bold, but never proud, it's helps with being bold.

I liked the one with the bumps on the front. I have always liked bumps. I'm rather proud to say that. Not very bold of me to call a bump, a bump. My life has been full of bumps, I'm not proud of all of those. I think that's rather a bold thing to say.

She has a, lol, rather detailed plan in place. A plan that would do any of us really proud. Daughter child was in picking out which socks to take. That was at midnight, her time, no more word. She has her act together, well as much as anyone can. Her priorities are correct, she'll make it. Might not hear from her for a while but she was taking the computer, so shouldn't be too long. I hope, hate this not knowing s**t.

"The kid's already been through the hysterics phase and been sick."

I should have added that concept, the kid isn't oblivious to it, but Nan got her calmed down. I mean she was in picking out socks. I just don't know how our aspie sisters do it sometimes. Like Nan said sometimes being aspie is a good thing. She'll make it. God you should see the details in that plan. Would do any of mine pure justice. We are good at figuring out the escape routes. Sometimes it takes a fire lit under my ass to do them, but the plans are always there.

I can just imagine the details. And if anyone can stay calm, it'll be Nan. The not knowing part sucks big time. :(

I don't do well with sitting around and worrying and watching the news feed about the wildfires isn't helping me any so it's time to post some music. Warning to Postie, it's inspirational and not at all heavy. Sorry!

Thank you.:D I know I'm not lost. And I know I have a planet full of friends. I just need to quit listening to my NT friends who go out to the bar and have social lives and like to tell me about it. I know I would just have a horrible time if I went with them, and I just can't talk or care about the things they do but there's that small part of me that believes them when they say I am missing out on life. I know that I'm not. It really makes no sense and I'm sure once I can start going to school again, I will feel much better. Until then, I'll listen to loud music and act like I'm 14!!

Bah! the life they tell you about is mainly froth and bubble!

Are you really missing close contact with a friend? A 'real' friend rather than virtual friends?

I don't think I am because I do have real life friends. I just don't have one that I have anything in common with, and I am the counsellor, not the counsellee (I know that's not a word).
I think I am missing having a companion, someone to just be with. You know the kind that you can just go for a walk with and whether you talk or not, it's still comfortable. That may not even exist, but that is what I'm missing.

And I really can't wait to go back to school. I feel like I'm stagnating. :? My kids are outgrowing me (thank goodness) and I'm ready for my life to start!

Yah, don't worry about it Blessed, I'm playing with my mojo.

Just reread her note, I'm not encouraged. SwampBlossom actually lived there and knows the locals Nan was speaking of. I can't pin her house to one spot, but very close, very close, as in yards. It's hard to know, it has wiped a lot of homes but in the middle of the devastation they have some that still stand. One of her escape routes wasn't a good choice, but I think she would have chosen the one with more people, even though that's a tendency for the thing not to do with us. She had good reasons for doing that one. She's also desert, dry brush country smart, she'll do the right thing. Could be longer before we hear, it's still in process. I didn't expect a reply back last night or I would have stayed up. She was just finding it comforting to be online. I would have thrown her off before then though. Ain't worry great?
