Thanks for the warning Sapphix...I dont think what you stated is paranoid or reactionary,as what you stated is scientific reality.....Effexor is a b***h to come off of.That is one reason I have never increased it in the past.(Been on 75mg for past 5 years).

Actually increasing the drug isn't my desire.I actually think the cognitive and memory problems have gotten worse since starting the medication and it maybe the cause of the very symptoms I am most worried about.Without my brain,my life is meaningless. The orblem is this.....I am supposed to go see the DR again in two weeks to let her know how I am doing ith the changes she suggested.Normally I am not overly influenced by "expert" opinions...but I am afraid to make her mad by disobeying her.I know that sounds silly but I need her help and if she thinks I am not doing as she says, maybe she will stop helping me?(I have had some pretty bad experiences with DRs,maybe it' made me paranoid?)

Anyway,I will take your advice into consideration.I havent decided yet.Perhaps I will tell her I wanted to see how not taking Benydryl and starting Clariton effected me before I added the Effexor change? That does seem the most scientific way to do it.Otherwise...if I had side-effects,changes...how will I know which med is responsible if I make all the changes at one.

The scientific method is changing one thing at a time, like replacing coffee with oatmeal, with honey if you insist, but that is two. Not that packaged stuff either, real American steel cut oatmeal.

I have started eating a large bowl of oatmeal with bananas in the mornings with a shot of Emergen-C concentrated vitamin C fizzy powdered drink. It keeps me from having my life long spasms in my calves and thighs.

and it starts my day warm and full. I usally didn't feed myself until after noon, but I believe it jump starts my metabolism.

The fact of Starbuline's passing is bad enough. She was only 16, two years older than my son. What's worse is that quite a few people seem to be using this sad event to push their own agendas. I'm suppressing a rant. BARELY.

Isn't that what always happens when something so tragic happens, the person who's life was lost gets lost in the drama? And used in exactly the way you say.

And I'll go back into lurky mode. :|

Not you, Nan, your remarks were thoughtful and à propos. I'm referring to some others who are using this unhappy event to slag off on WrongPlanet in general and Alex Plank in particular.

I got a laugh from this because I have this theory that as long as I have a yen for Chinese food everything must be okay. This is because there have been times during extreme anxiety that I have sent out for "Chinese". "Woman who send out for Chinese is not dying."

I hope you get it all sorted out Krex.

I always order Chinese during high stress times, and when I have a helluva migraine. I'll remember that, CC!

Krex, I think waiting to see what the change of antihistamines will do before you change anything else is a great idea. If you change more than one thing at a time things get a little blurry and hard to sort out. I'm not certain taking Benadryl with the Effexor is such a great idea in the first place.

Pain...weither it is physical, psychological or spiritual is a warning system that something is very out of balance and unsafe in your environment.I am going to try and head my bodie and minds warning system and make some more positive changes in my life. The chemicals I ingest seems like a pretty good start and I like oatmeal.I am going to replace the diet soda with green tea with Stevia leaves and try and make my own cough drops with the new Xylitol(sp?)

As far as giving up greezy chinese food or Wendies....lets not get carried away.If these changes help I may consider the glutan free thing(I already avoid milk products...exept cheese,I love cheese).

Anyway...I will try and not bore you with any more of my health concerns(until the blood tests come back, lol)

Happy Halloween...maybe by this tie next year I will have a good recipe for Xylitol candy.(WARNING....this stuff will kill your dog if it eats any!! !!!They didnt say anything about cats.Whats up with that?)

THE TELL TALE HEART

HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

There was a witch hanging out in the cafe but she seems to have disappeared with Cabana Han and the mule. If anyone has seen her, please tell her to get her broom back here and stop running around with Postie and Chuck.

Krex, I think waiting to see what the change of antihistamines will do before you change anything else is a great idea. OH! BENEDRYL! I find if I am feeling strange or acting out or find I am defending my actions it is probably BENEDRYL that is the issue. Other people can do Benedryl and obviously get un congested or even just fall asleep. I fall asleep alright, and maybe get uncongested but over the long look at my life I have ALWAYS freaked out behind Benedryl.
And then I will forget, and take it again, because it is cheap and sold over the counter now days, but not a month ago I was working with my supervisor because I had hung up on a client (Customer Service does not hang up on clients, not and keep your job!) and I traced it back to Benedryl that I had used for an alergic reaction to dry crushed leaves (when the car tires run over them in the streets, the 'dust' causes me misery)

so, if you are having an issue, stop the Benedryl first, Krexie. It takes a while to get it out of your system but you might feel more like your old self again. But keep the oatmeal habit. . go to the dollar store, they might have the instant in the packets and the off store brand is not bad at all!

your friend,
Merle

Ah yes. I'm not sure what Benedryl is, it probably has a different brand name here, but if you are referring to an anti sinus type thing, it probably contains pseudoephedrine which always makes me anxious and agitated. Antihistamines contain it too. You can ask your pharmacist for one without this ingredient.

And, *boo* to everyone else, if that is an appropriate halloween greeting.

Benedryl might do the trick for some folks, but it's never been a treat for me. Instant anxiety.

One of the reasons I left my future Ex to be ( when I stop procrastinating and get around to the paperwork) is because of Benadryl. When we met he took a few of them cause he had allergys he said (never saw any symptoms to be honest) and by the end he was hiding it from me and was taking so many of them he was giving himself seizures and still continued to lie to me about how many he was taking so I started having to be a detective.(counted 73 pills gone in one day once) Turns out he was a complete addict and unwilling to change it. His Benadryl meant more to him than we did. He was like some fu--ed up Zombie and his cognitive function became so dulled it was pathetic to watch. I could go on and on but whats the point. Suffice it to say I hate Benadryl and still find them hidden in stuff Ive taken out of storage to this day.
